My take on Genesis is two creations of the Adam.
In the first one, both the adam and the Eve are created together by one god. The second is the creation of the Adam by another god, placed in Eden and
the Eve was created later to keep him company...or maybe as part of the behavioural experiment to see what effect the Eve could bring to the
scenario.
Cast out by their god, after the experiment failed to go down the planned route, they have children, one of whom is slain by his brother, who is then
cast out and finds himself a wife elsewhere, probably from the population that already existed outside of Eden.
We don't know the exact time scales between the two creations but, if a god's day is as a thousand human years, then a blink of an eye to one entity
is a long, long time to the other. However, the Adam lived his 900+ years but to the god's perception he died on the day he was created.
