If there was ever a topic that breeds both hilarious and ridiculous responses based on nothing more than hate for black people, its the subject of Christ being black. Put the words “black” and “Jesus” in the same sentence and people will lose all common sense. Some people just can’t fathom the idea that a man that lived in Africa, came from a lineage that mixed with Africans, and were often mistaken for Africans… could possibly be black (cognitive dissonance). What it boils down to is that they just flat out hate the idea of a black Messiah… and those that would reject Christ based on race will not see the kingdom of heaven. Feel free to drop a link to this page any time you encounter any of these type of people.

I did t read the link, but reading the thread title made me think of a few other words. Substitute black with woman, or gay or transgender or Republican and see what results you get.

Jesus was Jewish. Most likely His skin color was darker much like an Arabs today. Caliph Omar conquered Jerusalem, Syria,Palestine, and Egypt. Nubians most likely came from Nubia and are depicted as much darker (Black) in Egyptian art and writing.

It's weird how many black people appear to be one of many varying shades of brown as opposed to the black I see when I use paint or markers. Are you trying to say Jesus was African descended?

Got no pictures or even a good, verified description.

Besides, Jesus could change his shape and appearance. Even his own people couldn't recognize him sometimes. So if he even existed, who knows what he looked like? Like everybody else in the area, probably.

Dude, Jesus was white with long flowing brown locks, blue eyes and a manly beard. Haven't you ever seen the thousands of paintings of him? They wouldn't possibly lie about him would they? His Middle Eastern origins doesn't matter.

There is a very big un-answered question here.

It is the elephant in the chook house.

Either ...

1. God sent his seed (sperm) which was beamed into Mary by the Holy Ghost.

or

2. God sent a fertilized egg down to be implanted by the Holy Ghost.

Before you can decide what skin tone Jesus is, you need to ask yourself ... "What skin tone does God have?"

Basic science people ... basic science.

Believers can get bent out of shape so damn easily.

If 1 above is true, then you need to look at God's Holy genetics and assume that God's DNA woul easily overide a mere human's DNA.

Therefore, Jesus was whatever God decided he should be.

Well we all know that race is what matters when it comes to the Messiah. smh.

The one's who hold the color of someone's skin in high regard are the racist.

Can't lie, sounds kinda rapey.

Incidentally, that's another theory... But that's not the topic here.

Look up art in Roman Palestine, or ethnic groups in Roman Palestine.

He also supposedly spoke Aramaic and that's Semetic. More clues.

And if you wanna get real literal than check the two genealogy trees listed for Jesus in the Gospel. Do they list Ham? No?

In Luke it shows he's from the geneology of Shem. Shem is where the word Semetic comes from.

Shem's son Arphaxad is listed and this leads eventually to Abraham.

Please do basic research and read your Bible.

So since the common belief is that black people came from Ham, and Jesus instead came from his brother Shem - I guess that means Jesus almost certainly was Semetic rather than African huh.

Debunked.

Arphaxad supposedly gave rise to the Chaldean peoples.

Chaldea[1] (/kælˈdiːə/) or Chaldaea[2] was a Semitic-speaking nation which existed between the late 10th or early 9th and mid-6th centuries BC, after which it and its people were absorbed and assimilated into Babylonia.[3]

Arphaxad's son Cainan:

The Alexandrine Chronicle derives the Samaritans from Cainan;[3]
Eustachius Antiochenus, the Saggodians;
George Syncellus, the Gaspheni;
Epiphanius the Cajani.

Besides the particulars already mentioned, it is said Cainan was the first after the flood who invented astronomy, and that his sons made a god of him, and worshiped his image after his death. The founding of the city of Harran in Mesopotamia is also attributed to him; which, it is pretended, is so called from a son he had of that name.' -Anc. Univ. Hist., vol. i, p. 96, note."

So the Samaritans, Cajani, Gaspheni, and Saggodians...

Oh for Pete's sake, Jesus came here with the message that the physical details in our existence were illusion. Wake up and understand the body dies and the spirit is what lives on. We are all one and the same spiritually. That is why he praised the good Samaritans, who were outcasts in the Jewish tradition.

It doesn't matter what type of Man Jesus was...his spirit is what mattered. Anyone who is focused on the Man, completely is blind.

Edit add: though that is probably why I am agnostic and no longer considered Christian. Jesus had a message and it was not to worship (idolize)him physically!

Since Christianity along with Islam comes from Zoroastrianism which came out of 'Iran'.

Jesus would be middle eastern which would make him brown.
