Where's an EMP gun when you need one?

Yeah, that's creepy-cool. I'm serious about some kind of EMP device lol.

Were going to need a bigger EMP gun!

They are freaky. I will order a robot guard dog that can sh#$t 12 gauge shells at intruders.

I just wish that Boston Dynamics would discover the idea of feet.

Yes, feet and ankles are very important and yet, they leave them off their robots.

Oh, and toes ... toes are important too.

It's all fun and games until they gang up and start claiming all the power outlets as their personal territory.

Dude... Feet are REALLY hard to build and get enough actuators in and have enough micro controller system resources to control in real time...

And horses have hooves so... Feet might be nice, but we already know they aren't strictly necessary.

Which is good because see my earlier comments above about feet being really hard!

Boston dynamics knows what they're doing on this one, and while they don't come out and ever say it outright in the presentations a big part of why they have so much success is their willingness to diverge from slavish biomimicry in order to get the most out of the tech.

Ummm...if humans had gyroscopes...we wouldn’t need feet...ankles or toes either...

If I live long enough for robot/Android bodies/partials to become mainstream...I’d forgo feet for gyroscopic balance in a heart beat...hell...I’d opt for wings as well...and fins...etc...

All as accessories of course...plug and play...

The ankle joint is very necessary. If they want performance, you need that joint, it allows you to turn quickly and lots of other things.

We do have our equivalent of the gyroscope, it is your inner ear and it is very good at what it does. Ankles, feet etc are very necessary.

That's amazing. With each passing year robots seem to get more and more intelligent. Our knowledge of programming is also getting better.
I'm sure programmers will put in a killswitch on robots the more intelligent they get. You can't have them going crazy without a failsafe.

Watching that video amazes me how fluid their movement is.

Pre-programmed robots are one thing, things will get really interesting when they start thinking for themselves.

They're still no more intelligent that the program, It's the design of them that keeps my eyes popping. From lawnmowers with wires all over the place, to something that looks like it has a USB port the size of a 7' floppy disk lol..

But when they are able to be individually programmed to perform a task, like this.. that is something.

At least my nightmare of hearing hordes of these this stomping down the road like list mechanical buzzing force, is replaced by cooperative silent monsters...

ED209 had nothing on these guys

We're a long way off that.. first they'll just secretly beep beep at each other and develop their own language.. kill kill kill kill kill kill obey.

no shut of switch, if they've disabled it while we weren't watching..

Oh, you mean something like a 0-stage Marx generator built of ten 10nf per stage providing 1nf of erected capacitance?

(I have no idea what any of that actually means, lol)

Electromagnetic EMP Pulse Gun, Gen II

The site linked above is definitely worth a browse for anyone interested in robotics/high voltage experiments, and the like.
