I am very fond of the game XCOM 2.

There is a boss character called the Warlock. He can mind control your characters, make them act against you, he can also create psychic bombs that walk around and explode.

Somehow, it just reminds me of this situation.

When the press wants to, they will get so antsy to release an identity that they will release the wrong one as in the case of the Brian Ross and James Holmes.

I wouldn't rely too much on due diligence from the press.

If they don't know yet, it's because they don't want to.

i think LEOs are actually the ones who work on identifying the body and notifying the next of kin and releasing the name. not to mention misidentification is usually predicated on misinformed sources or released surveillance footage.

but if you want to stitch this into your million-moving-parts grand conspiracy of time-traveling satanic pedo aliens, by all means...
