Interesting to note on the T cells..
T-cells are an important subtype of white blood cells that play a key role in the immune system and in fighting cancer in several ways...
T cell Wiki
I'm sure there is a multiple meaning to that one...
f you just want to obtain some functional T cells, an adult donor would produce much more T cells (hope you did not mean to harvest *all* baby’s T cells!!!). In fact, “donor lymphocyte infusion” (DLI) is performed quite commonly as a treatment for cancer. Of course, the donor should be compatible with the recipient, just like in the case of bone marrow transplantation (which normally precedes DLI, with the same donor).
Doctors do harvest blood cells from newborn umbilical cord blood for transplantation in cancer patients, and the advantage is that the donor does not need to be as closely matched as with the bone marrow transplantation, however the amount of obtained cells is low so it’s mostly used in children.
Scientists in China have cloned two bouncing baby monkeys, theoretically opening the door for the cloning of humans.
However, the researchers stressed that they have no intention of cloning humans.
"I would think that the society and general public and the government will not allow the extension of application of these methods from non-human primates to humans," said Mu-ming Poo, director of the Institute of Neuroscience at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Instead, the goal is to create cloned monkeys that can be used to study human genetic diseases, said Poo, who co-authored a new study describing the results.
