Often when I see pictures of Orbs people dismiss them as dust.
Today I decided to test that theory and take some pictures.

These are pictures of my living room before my experiment.

This is my recliner that I will beat for dust to get into the room.

These are the Orbs I made.

Looks like the flash from my camera reflecting off of the dust is the cause of the Orbs.

It's funny that you should mention it. My wife discovered that she could generate orbs by dusting the blades of the ceiling fan then taking a flash photo. The quality suffers because I reduced the size for easy posting, but look for a bright one left of the corner and some high and right. Good job on your pictures.

I agree most are little more then dust .Heck up untill a cople days agaio I realy dident have a opion one way or the other .But my wife went to my kids first dance at the school and I uploaded the photos into my pc to print a few for her.And what do I see? Orbs but not nearly like the ones you have a photo of .If I knew how to upload a photo here id show you.
anyway wile these orbs are generly white they have a strange orange green off set circel inside the orb. Your dust orbs dont show that even under magnafication. So Do I just have photos of funny looking dust or something more?

Great evidence to disprove orbs. It's things such as this that prevent me from evenso much as desiring to take along cameras on ghost hunts, let alone wanting to "prove" what I've experienced to others. I know, from my own experiences, with no proof to offer to others, that ghosts exist in many different forms and variations. However, most "physical" evidence, such as a photograph with orbs is often a trick of the light. This proof would explain most occurances of orbs, as many are captured in places that have long since been abandoned, with an abundance of dust that gets stirred up be people exploring the areas.

There are very few orb photographs that I have felt actually had some authenticity to them, and typically, these are in conjunction with other things, such as lights, colors, "smoke" or even full apparitions.

Thank you again for posting these! Hopefully, it'll help to dubunk most of the sightings that aren't legitimate.

Thanks for the explanation of the orbs. I thought these type of pictures were becoming too common to be supernatural. Sunlight or bright light reflecting off of dust particles makes sense to me. I was wondering if it was an effect in or on the camera at first.

My question is what's up with the half o fone behind your child? That sure is a big piece of dust.

edit. dust is dirt and dirt is solid. so if those are solid objects? why can you see through them?

To answer your fist question I figured we could take a closer look.

I'm guessing you are talking about the light spot behind his back. We can see it is not a orb at all. There is a toy with a mirror on the floor. What we are seeing here is a reflection of light on the wall from the mirror. The toy is seen on the floor in the first picture. If you want a closer look at the toy I will take a picture for you.

As for the dust question.

Looks like the flash from my camera reflecting off of the dust is the cause of the Orbs.

Yes dust is a solid object. We are not seeing the dust we are seeing the flash reflecting off of the dust. Dust does not float around as balls the size of my kids head. Before that day, of the hundreds of photos I've taken with my camera, I have never photographed an orb. I made my living room severely dusty and now I have orbs.

I never knew the concept of "Orbs"even existed.
So that quote is true.We do learn something everyday

I am of the mindset that "orbs" are not substantial evidence of the paranormal overall. But I must say, I have seen footage of "orbs" that are unlike the dust particles here. Such as pin points of light which pass through people and also ones which move and zig zag "intelligently". Much like a UFO.

Kudos to you, this is a good example of an Ameteur MythBuster. Previous to your experiment, I was less skeptical, now I am leaning towards orbs are in fact dust.

You burst my bubble

lol

Darn, Darn, Darn! I did want to believe Orbs were real ghostly phenomena.

No need to be sorry, I don't have photoshop either
.
You are right the dust orbs do not explain everything and not every thing can be explained.
I do have some more orb photos that you might be interested in. I've been quite lazy to upload and resize them. I hope to have them up by Monday.

First I would like to apologize for taking so long to get this photo online.
I said I would post it way back when I made this post. Some photos I took last night (02/25).

Anyway, here is the picture I took. On the right side of the picture there is a orb. This has been the only orb picture that I have taken where I did not intentionally 'make' the orb(s).

It is a little hard to see so I made a lightened version.

This is zoomed in on the orb.

This orb is a little harder for me to try and explain. I was not in control of the environment so I can't say for sure what it is.
I don't believe it is dust. I'm no expert but I don't think that there could be dust where I was taking the photo.
It was 9°C(48°F) and I was on a pedestrian overpass. I think it may of been caused by moisture but I really don't know.

What do you guys think?

Though I believe in paranormal concepts involving the dead, these darn “orbs” have always made me skeptical. I’m really glad you posted about your experiments.

As for your last post with pictures. I don’t know what to say. So many things could cause this phenomenon.

BTW, I have Photoshop 7, and would more then happy to examine anything you wish.

Great job on the experiment!

Weather phenomena makes great orbs too. I can't find one I've taken of rain offhand, mostly because I didn't want to get my camera wet, but here's one of some orbs from snow.

Those snow orbs look cool
. Someday I should go to a graveyard while it's raining or snowing and takes some pictures
. I bet sooo many people will believe they are ghosts.

Great work. I like that you took it upon yourself to do this. By the way, nice chair, it looks confurtable. ANd, Bump, because more people need to see that orbs are fake, or at least no visible.

Well that explains some orbs, but it doesnt explain the one I saw that came right up to my face

I would say it explains most orbs. At least most of the orbs that get shown around the net.
You are right though, it doesn't explain everything.
Not everything can be explained. But now we all know what ones are created by dust, snow, and rain.

i have posted another thread about Orbs..mainly because there are tons of pics...
i know dust and snow and rain can cause orbs...but not all.

i firmly believe that true orbs are spirit energy.
