It started with Superman, who if memory serves was sued because he was a copy of someone else’s IP..
Bill Finger probably created Batman and bob Kane ran with it..
There is no era you can point to where they are not all stealing each other’s ideas..
And that’s better for us as fans.. we get more and more creative content.
No copyright ever made a story better, lol..
But I can guarantee copyrights have killed GREAT stories in their cradles.
