So I just ended it all by becoming a bit of a 420-type-of-guy.

I remember ATS having strict rules about discussing drugs and what not,

but I got pretty bad in 2013 and finally just checked into a rehab.

it was the only way at the time. Lock me up and throw away the key (for 35 days).

It has been relaxed to some extent, but not the personal use aspect. But I know what you mean.

When I was sober from 2010 till 2013, I didn't even tolerate my morning coffee. It felt so much better to be free of anything. This is my goal again. But unfortunately, gaba agonists are as they are. You can't stop suddenly, and I made the foolish decision to try, after 9 weeks, it sent me into a world of .. it opened a door I cannot close. Still, it works for many others, it is off label, generally used as a muscle relaxant, but it is different for everyone. And not for me. Finally seeing the shoreline, I think. but holy buckets, it is either high seas or cast adrift.

Rehab down here is like asking a clown for candy. Cheap and nasty, and the balloons do not look like animals. I've done it before, I will do it again, I know my triggers now. No more achey breaky hearts. As someone else posted recently, they feel like they were here merely to observe. Sometimes, that's the best thing.

3 years though, that is awesome. I think social media plays a lot into it. Almost like a drug itself for some. So the best thing is to know limits, and not go too far away from where we are.

know your triggers, and avoid heartbreak at all costs...

and yes... it's always a good idea to simply view yourself as a spectator in all this madness.

easy to do from a society standpoint... but a more important philosophy to remember when dealing with friends, family, and community.

Absolutely !

it was what allowed me to be clean for almost 3 years once. till someone from 26 years prior came back into my life. I broke every rule I'd set for myself.

still, we live and learn.

I hope the mods go easy on the 420. You've done the right thing. Oh and there is also one more rule now that I learned about the hard way, don't call anyone a shill even if joking. 72 hour warning, and I was not even aware of it. Something change so quickly. Understandable, but caught me off guard.

check out pages 66 & 67 of the AA Big Book sometime, good advice in there on how to approach those types of resentments.
