The future is now. Chinese drone manufacturer Ehang has been toiling away on the Ehang 184, a quadcopter passenger drone, for a couple of years now. Today, after over a thousand test flights involving human passengers, the company released footage of some of these flights, shutting down naysayers and impressing newcomers to this company and its passenger-drone endeavors. Could sky-taxis be right around the corner?

www.thedrive.com...

Drone tech is now hitting the stage where people can make manned vehicles. Keep in mind, the initial stages will look a lot like scaled up drones, like the Ehang 184. However, with some work, and sweat and perseverance, more advanced vehicles will come.

Where are your flying cars? The flying cars you were promised? About 30 years late.

VFR outside of controlled airports. That's about the only time I'd ever even think about flying one.

I would have to put the Airwolf theme on loop though.

build a real bugout house out in the mountains with no roads and use your drone to get there

Not from these guys.

The 'flying car' types are abandoning driving on the ground by and large.

How big of an account do you have? 12 rotor pairs and a flatbed with winches. Might look more like the Imperial Transport from Rogue One, but...

Once the consumer market is targeted, Darwin will be adding a new level of technology to the contest.

Watching many drivers on the ground, I can only imagine what's going to happen when they take to the air.

Growing pains for sure.

Ehang claims you don't even need to touch the stick. Just tell it where you want to fly.

Can't wait to mock one up like a black triangle and fly around everywhere.
