Why aren't there any peni paintings as the main subject out there for anyone to censor? Because it is not artwork it is deemed pornography.

Have you seen The Creation of Adam?

It's part of the ceiling at the Sistine Chapel. I think Adam might have been Irish ( tee hee )

en.wikipedia.org...

His penis is not up front and centered unlike the other vagina painting. Context.

I disagree. We are still supposed to be adults. Adults don't cry and moan, if they see something they don't like, they avoid it. You don't like a statue? Look the other way. It's free and anyone can do it. Don't like a painting? Don't look at it. It's free and everyone can do it. Just because some don't wanna see history doesn't mean others feel the same.

I'm not trying to argue with you here, I just think that if an adult is a mature adult then they should have the strength to look past the things they don't like.

Show me a full on painting of a penis without any context and I will admit I am wrong.

But some adults on this thread are crying and moaning about the painting being taken down, so equality in everything.

An art gallery in Manchester, England has taken down a painting that features naked women, ostensibly to spark discussion amid the #MeToo movement. Critics say it’s simply censorship.

On Friday, the Manchester Art Gallery announced it would be temporarily removing a painting from the 1890s in order to “prompt conversation about how we display and interpret artwork” during a time when several sexual harassment scandals are in the headlines.

***SNIP***

The museum also left post-it notes at the empty space where the painting once hung and encouraged visitors to write down their thoughts and paste it on the wall.

I think a big part of the message was not relayed in the OP. The museum's decision is certainly prompting conversation!

Seems to me -- it worked -- did exactly what was intended.

Create debate/discussion.

It's temporary and a form of "performance art".

Moving the goalposts just because you can't admit you're wrong isn't a good look for you.

The vagina painting has this history. Understand the context there.

A Facebook search today returns numerous uncensored posts featuring images of "L'Origine du Monde". The painting, one of several female nudes completed by Courbet, shocked the stiff bourgeois society of his time. It is believed to have been commissioned by a Turkish diplomat in Paris who was forced to sell it after racking up huge debts because of his gambling addiction.

Your penis picture, not considered fine art, and of a modern persuasion has no bearing on the historical context and where on Facebook can I find it. Goal post backed up a little for you to be able to meet it.

Hey. Did you know that all those fig leaves and such on statues from ancient Greece and Rome where put there by Europeans during the medieval times? Censorship in art is nothing new and this really isn't PC run amok. It's just repackaging an ancient argument for modern times.

You can't find it on facebook because it goes against their regulations. Wtf is wrong with you since when is facebook the authority of what is art or not?

This is what you said
