I spent a good part of my late teens and early twenties spaced out, I don't have any desire to get into a rocket and float around in a sardine can.

So they are using methane generated from waste to grow a microbe. This isn't thr dame as turning waist into food and nothing new. Every septic tank in the world has to release methane or blow up lol.

The Japanese developed closed tank sewage processing plants that could be located underneath a building in the basement. Some of them have been designed artistically that they look like a sci-fi movie:
