We still want to get rid of criminals. That is the point since on the trail. They are not sending their best. That does not mean there are not good hardworking people it means that there needs to be things in place to remove the bad people and allow a path for the good. This is good immigration policy.

A blanket EO like DACA is not and it is not what the Dreamers initially wanted. DACA was for votes. Plain and simple. It was to pause the Dreamer push and turn a blind eye.

There is a path. People immigrate to the US all the time, but they do it the legal way. If you don't then by definition that makes you a criminal.

It would not apply to the number of previously convicted and released criminals that wold not pass the citizenship process. It would also not include those that may not have committed crimes here, but have (or had) warrants or criminal records in their country of record.

After all, these DACA class of people include "dreamers" that were children brought here and their parents and other family members snuck in as well. So, there is a subset of that entire group that woud not benefit from a path to citizenship.....nor should they.

That is how I interpret it.

Once weed goes legal the major corporations are ready to go. And they're going to be able to undercut the costs that the cartel charges. Just because there are still people that make and sell moonshine does not mean it is a lucrative business. Most people still go to the liquor store. And just because there may still be some kid sligning on the street corner doesn't mean that's where most people will be getting their weed from.

Right now the cartels own probably around 80-90% of the marijuana trade. If big hitters like Philip Morris get involved I'll be surprised if the cartels can hold on to 10% of the market share. That is going to be a major hit to their revenue.

No, they will not allow that revenue to diminish. They will either block the corps from getting that far or switch/develop the next gen drug to sell, with all the marketing they need to addict the next generation. It is just like an arms race.
