Update 2 and final: Shortly before 1pm ET, the Senate voted to advance a funding bill in an 81 to 18 vote, that will reopen the government, ending a three-day standoff that left federal agencies shuttered and hundreds of thousands of workers furloughed. Democrats agreed to advance a stopgap spending measure lasting until Feb. 8 after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to allow an immigration bill to reach the floor next month.

"After several discussions, offers and counteroffers, the Republican leader and I have come to an arrangement. We will vote today to reopen the government to continue negotiating a global agreement," Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said ahead of the vote.

Why wouldn't the market go up? Defense stocks are set to increase significantly due to the highest percent increase in defense spending since Reagan. This is a byproduct of that and since the market also doesn't like uncertainty.

That's about the only certainty here.

And President Trump signed the legislation

In a dramatic turnaround, Senate Democrats voted to reopen the government on Monday after receiving a commitment from Republicans to hold a vote on immigration legislation — paving the way to end the three-day shutdown.

I don't see why everybody is celebrating.

They just "paused" the shutdown until Feb 8th.

All factors causing shutdown are still in effect.

So, if Trump doesn't cave in on the immigration deal, "shutdown resumes" in Feb.

It's not like if they've got the long term settlement they're looking for.

Just kicking the can down the road, with shutdown and restart and shutdown over and over.

Nothing fixed.

I still can't believe I live in a country where we're even debating illegal immigration.

Illegal means, against the law.

Yes, but it's a man made law. And those debating are very conscious of the history of America, that the first settlers came here in exactly the same way. So, to argue that the "illegals" have no right to be here, is to simultaneously acknowledge that our "forefathers" had no right to be here either, and hence we the descendants are all illegals. And just as the Jews have now gone back to the land of their forefathers, the only place on earth that they are entitled to call their own, we may all have to go back to the land of our forefathers too, if the Native Americans petition the United Nations for redress on the lands stolen from their forefathers.

Two illegals can't make a legal.

Every empire thinks it can dominate the globe, wage endless war to get there, and always they fail because the goal is impossible. The lesson control freaks never learn.

btw, "Infinite" warfare-- what a title. It wouldn't sell as well if the title was "Endless" warfare. See how they are mind melding our kids with video war games, raising them to fight forever? When they grow up and become eligible for indiction, they are already conditioned to it.

"Heres a rifle, you have been called to do your duty."

The dollar is weakening too, so that will boost the stock market even further, as foreign investors realise they can get more bang for their foreign currency in the US stockmarket.

Bah it's not the economy, the economy has been stuck around 2% growth rates ever since 2008. The markets are highly leveraged with cheap credit pumped out by the fed (zirp) for over 8 years, QE and foreign central banks purchasing stocks and US corporations buying back their own stock.

Another factor no one will admit is that US shale oil production was financed by the fed's zirp program allowing US energy companies the ability to issue bonds into the low rate environment at rates below a functioning market would pay. There was a big build up of oil, that brought the price of oil down but now we increased our oil exports and the over-supply is being reduced. This gives the appearance of increasing GDP, as statistics show increased energy consumption which is related to increasing economic activity.

But it's all fake.

Well buddy, times change, we can't support millions of illegal immigrants with our already overloaded system.

What don't people understand about not providing free healthcare / housing /education for illegals? Our own citizens are already in need. Stop worrying about every other country and their problems, and worry about your own.

I'm with the America First camp. I could care less that other countries can't fix their own problems.

Native American's said exactly the same thing. All the wild buffalo wouldn't support the massive influx of new European migrants. And in fact, the buffalo herds were wiped out, along with it there went the life style and standard of free living the Natives enjoyed.

History repeats itself.

yup, thats what I was going for. We will wage warfare indefinitely because the methods to control the minds on a mass scale have already been perfected, and continue to be refined even more so. Games like COD being part of that weapon.

It won't be long before the machines do all the work and high school kids can volunteer to be the ones controlling them on the ground across the globe without even needing to pay a decent salary or benefits. How about instead of trying to fight it, lets just find a way to prosper from it. Maybe you can run the first volunteer war arcade for kids after school to take on the next terrorist threat in Asscrackistan with VR headsets tied into the machines on the ground. Then you can get paid for premium missions, or even sell adsense they see on screen while they roam the terrain!

Catch residual income for tagging walls with branding with the machine as well maybe.

How about instead of trying to fight it, lets just find a way to prosper from it.

Thats why they firebombed cities in Germany and Japan. Because the people worked in and 'profited' from the war effort. They were considered part of the whole problem.

Its no different today. Look at certain cities in Syria and Iraq, they are turned to piles of rubble.

When all is said and done, you want to be counted among those that didn't 'go along' or those that did?
