Once computers become fast enough and can handle the storage necessary, it should, in theory, be possible.

All I can say is... San Junipero.

Don't read up on it. Just watch it.

A problem with transferring consciousness (identity) is it's much more than the voice in our heads we call 'me' or I.' Really, it's 'they' and 'their' voices. It's a choir being regulated by hormones and circumstances. It's what our gut bacteria are up to and how healthy that belly and bowel ecosystem is. It's also throttled by the effects of the weather and the well-being of people we care about.

The consciousness that comes up in these discussions is really a one-dimensional, unemotional and flat concept. I used to see it the same way so I'm not knocking you here. Would you want to exist without moods, emotions and with limited creativity?

Found something interesting... only because Google knows what topics I'm reading in ATS and highlights videos related... Go figure...

Why cloning isn't possible. Thus, why transferring consciousness isn't possible.
