So this is a bit of a gamers rant but its in this forum because I think its more relevant.
So to get to the point, any other gamers noticing how bad gaming is getting. In 2017 we had the disaster that was Mass Effect, we had EA's loot boxes
and I honestly think that other than Horizon Zero Dawn we didn't really get any truly amazing games. Now sure, so far 2018 looks like its going to be
a epic year for gamers (ok for ps4 users, sorry xbox) but I still feel its all getting rather stale.
I am fed up of paying for half a game only for the rest of it to come out in a slow drip of DLC (looking at you destiny 2), I am fed up of loot boxes,
I am fed up of playing the same assassins creed, Call of Duty, need for speed, Fifa or whatever else every year all for the sweet cost of about £50 a
shot. Then after forking out the cash I have to then pay yet more money to get the full experience. Recently I started playing a game called
HellBlade, its a ps4 exclusive (sorry xbox) and its original, it cost half of what a AAA game does and feels like a full experience without paying
through the nose for DLC.
I love shooters, was a massive fan of Tom Clancy games back in they day, so what the hell was that mess that was Ghost Recon wildlands? I want a new
splinter-cell, I actually wanted to play Rainbow Six patriots. Instead I get this crap.
Why the hell do I get charged £50 for a new Fifa every year (ok I don't get it every year) when a patch, not even a DLC, could probably suffice. it
could be done on a two or three year cycle, that way each game would get a real chance to be more fully developed and be noticeably different. Its
just greed, more greed from EA who make about $4 billion each year, I am sure they could afford to actually make a decent game with out DLC and the
same rehash every year.
At least naughtydog (sorry xbox) and Rockstar actually take the time to put out decent compete games with out all that crap but its only a matter of
time before they follow suit.
I guess part of it is nostalgia but when I look back at big games, like Mass effect then see the crap that was andromeda or when I play Need For Speed
most wanted then see that mobile game for console called payback I just fee like games these days are just about making money and nothing else. Sure I
get it, folk need money to support families, if games didn't make money then they wouldn't make games but current business practices are turning
gamers off towards indy titles. For example I will no buy another EA title unless they change their shoddy business practices of selling half a game
at launch. Which is a shame because I enjoy Fifa, Need for speed, and so on. Thats not even getting into the way they as a publisher are treating
developers by shutting down and mothballing studio after studio.
An another thing while am on a role, you might have noticed a few apologies to Xbox in this post. Wha the hell is going on there, I own a xbox and I
like the system so this isn't some ps4 fan boy rant, but why so few decent exclusives. Why release a amazing bit of kit like the Xbox one X and have
no exclusive games for it. I am not interested in cup-head!!!
meh might just be me but I am sure other gamers will see what I am getting at.
