I am in total agreement you. Maybe I should have been a little more clear, but I was definitely not trying to imply that we were addicted to the Mud-Pit. I was only talking about the dopamine aspect of it, hence the drug reference.

Dopamine addiction is a very real thing. Highly potent and very subtle.

Hmmm, maybe the gap between the current state of ATS and its potential is wider than we thought. ATS should have a “Member Feedback” forum, or something. But I can see where that might turn into an “I just shat on ATS”-fest.

People are going to tell you to write a thread instead of complain.

I say Why waste the time politics is about the only thing that draws attention on here and it's what the current majority crave.

You would be lucky to get past page 2 on a non political non polarizing thread and any of the people who could contribute or expand on topics outside of politics are long gone from this site.

I keep hearing users encouraging people in these rants to post something they are interested in.

I say why bother its better to put that creative energy elsewhere then waste it on here and watch your thread die under the weight of hundreds of polarizing political threads.

ATS once had a golden age but it is now like a dying empire complete with it's own bread and circuses with the gladiatorial mud pit.

I guess I stick around to be an archaeologist and dig for gold and treasure in the archives...and some times to see that very rare great thread show up.

I'm humble enough to admit I am 5% less intelligent than the 95% but equal or greater than 95% more intelligent than you.

Then there are those that thrive in the ATS armpit and spam threads there daily because stars and flags along with Dopamine addiction and confirmation bias.

Then there are run on sentences.

I find it absurd and preposterous to spend time authoring an alternative topic thread when I know it's just going to be swallowed and buried by the gaping maw of political tirades.

The last two I've submitted barely gained any attention or discussion whatsoever.

C'est la vie.

I'm sadly reminded about how the real world Alt Communities were disbanded because of similar influxes of passionate political topics.

We had something special here once.

Now I just browse and pray for something I'm interested in.

I refuse to buy into the Partisan bull#tery.

Also, one last thing.....I thought there was something in the T&C about no "Forum Gangs" but it seems that's all there is on the recent posts every time I log in. Trump this Trump that, pro con....ad nauseam.

Same shyte different day.

It amazes me how so many can dedicate themselves to repeating themselves endlessly on every thread that pops up.

We get it....they have strong opinions on politics.

Can we please have ATS back?

I wish they'd not award stars and flags for mud-pit posts. I think that might cut down the garbage significantly.

Or just get rid of the mud pit entirely.
