This is very sad news.

Ray Thomas flautist and songwriter has passed away age 76. The Moody Blues are one of my all time favourite bands. The were the innovators of progressive rock with their 1967 album, " Days Of Future Passed "

To add all of their great musical achievements would fill a page. So i will add just a few.

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion

Sad news, to be sure. Days of Future past is one of my all-time favorite albums. Pioneers of mixing orchestral instruments with progressive rock. Rest in peace, sir.

I've been a fan since 'In search of the lost Chord'.

I saw them for the first time this summer just outside Seattle at a winery with about room for 4000 people.

It was the Moody Blues 50th anniversary tour. I cannot express how much that concert moved me.

Likely they will shut it down now.

That is the real downside to getting old. Losing these jewels..

Bound to happen. Passing of an era, like Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Santana, etc.

What I meant is that music will live on forever for new generations to enjoy.

I too relish the concert experience, seen all of those (back in the day) , some more than twice.

Never caught the Moody Blues live... must have been awesome.
