You apparently have no concepts of how earth-shaking would be contact with ETIs. It would not be a walk in the park or back the the usual as you suggest. Upon what basis would you even think such a simplistic possibility? 

But you are over looking the lack of overall response of the general public, one would think that such revelations as occurred two weeks ago on all media outlets , without the smirk and giggles one usually get, folks social media and office water fountain talk should be all a buzz, but act as if nothing remarkable took place, I mean didn't some really really big. deal in both govt and industry came out and said yes..this is a thing???

Two phases are finally happening in the recognition of the realness of UFOs. First, the whole concept of ETIs is being quietly acknowledged in the back of the mind as the general idea of ETIs out there someplace is finally becoming logical in today's world.

Second, riding on that, yet unacknowledged and hidden even deeper is the fear of what that simple realizations means. That fear has no legitimate evidence for keeping itself grounded because humanity has no good idea of what it all means (do we have helpers coming or are they hungry?). This situation is a quiet, unknown, avoided, almost unspeakable fear, similar to the typical fear one may have of one's own death.

It grows and grows as you age and you find ways to cope by it avoidance, joking about it, or acceptance. So the arrival to the human mind of the knowledge of ETIs here is a gigantic unknown, similar to coming to terms with the various stages of death. All a natural process of the human psyche.
