New Years Eve Mystery

This just happened about 10 minutes ago and im sort of baffled.

I sometimes sleep with my sony earbuds in my ears, unplugged. Sort of a make shift ear plug. Yesterday, while wearing them, I swear I thought I heard something coming from the earbuds intermittently. I ignored this inkling


Today, 10 minutes ago, I hopped out of bed, and as I walked out of my door, I very clearly heard a male voice say "What?" coming through both ear buds.

Confused, I checked to see if I had connected the analog jack to anything.

Nope. It was just dangling there like a wet noodle.

I immediately brushed it off as "hearing things." No more than 5 seconds later, I heard a very clear electronic click sound through both ear buds, and then another. Sounded like an engage, disengage, almost like a person picking up a phone and immediately hanging up.

Needless to say I tore the buds out of my ears.


I maintain that I could have just been hearing things, but I havent heard anything since I took off the headphones.

I suppose I should try them on again and see if I can recreate the anomaly.

That is definitely interesting, and I have read about others having the same thing happen to them. You said your plug was just dangling? I just want to clarify that you have regular ear buds and they are not wireless?

This has happened to me with regular ear plugs. I think just having them in your ear for that long kinda plays tricks in your ears or it makes it seem like your thoughts are coming from the outside. Hope I helped and I wouldn't worry about it.Happy new year

now, now....we've known about this for three decades/....

it's not...you heard it and you know it was real.....somehow they can put it your ears...or 3 to 5 microvolts potential went accross the jack and made a noise.......

in the 80's i had a loud one....in middle of nowhere along the Trinity River......a ....HEY YOU ....! real loud i thought the sherriff was comin up the river with a megaphone.....

Possible to receive signals that way. If you wore them 24/7 you might think that it happened naturally. Not saying it will happen just that it can happen. When I was young the Dentist used and amalgam of metals with some being toxic metals, and some people would receive radio broadcasts.

While of course mythbusters says to no surprise, NOT TRUE. (I don't think MB is nearly 100% trustworthy by about 50% but they might be a little better my cynic side says they stink at it)

Here might be an explanation as to the dental filling providing AM signals upon corrosion of the metals while on the tooth.

Its more than likely that it was interference, if it sounded like Morse code-However I've experiences where my phone has turned itself on, and oh boy it was creepy.

I don't use Gmail anymore because one day I sent an email to my grandmother about my broken vacuum, then I started to get spam emails about-you guessed it-vacuums.

I'd contact your carrier ASAP if you think there is a problem.

We must stop the signal.

Ear phones are designed to take electrical impulses and convert them back to sound .
now you have two wires connected to a tiny speaker the wires will pick up electrical impulses from any source with enough power and the pulse goes through the wires into the speaker and wala sound .

You know I am old enough to have know a few people with braces that could open there mouth and you could here a radio station all it takes is enough wattage .
back then you could get up at 2 am when TV stations were off air and listen to truckers as the wattage on CBS were so high you got bleed through .

There are natural radio emissions that earth and mars send out all the time some of the static between stations is earth talking to you some is stars have a word and some in the universes chatting .
Really its kind of cool and these things happen LONG before man invented radio as many places on earth have what are called natural amphitheaters .

take two paper cups wax a string attach to both cups and talk to a friend long distance lol

Not sure about the voice, but the clicking sound could be the dangling plug picking up static electricity off your clothing. Then turning it into sound.

The reason doctors sell cr# meds full of chlorine and flouride. They can fake schizophrenia. I bet the other other side of that response was something like
"Your on the wrong person"

These is nothing mystical about how sound or electrical can carry and you dont need much for ether thing to happen a canyon yell and people 20 miles away can hear voices out of thin air they must be nuts as well hu ?

If you can find a old record 45 and turn table you can make it work with even plunging it in with just a sheet of paper and a needle .
Braces are documented to pick up stations ( well no longer as they have been changed to prevent this .
same thing with the buzzing that can accure in your ears even .
So the voices coming from noware may not be in your head lol

Yes, by all means, try again. I wouldn't take them off !!

Sounds like someone nearby has a HAM radio station. My neighbor up the road had one (given away by a large antennae going from his roof). I'd hear voices coming from my headphones for my PC.

There is a story about how one apartment tenant thought his place was haunted because voices came through his stereo system and the radio would make sounds even though there was no power or batteries. Turned out his downstairs neighbor had used the metal frames of the windows as a broadcast antennae.

That's not just gmail doing that stuff, they all are. I use Microsoft email and have the same happen. As a matter of fact, I got shocked by a new twist today--I don't get out much. My GF and I were having lunch at a place and her phone told here that she had a new notice. She looked and saw that it was an adv for the place we were sitting in. Strange! I decided to check my phone via a different carrier. I had the same display which means we were not only tracked, but targeted. I guess that is nothing new, but it was to us.

It’s amazing when something like this happens how we rationalize

I had dishes ALL BY THEMSELVES shoot out of my kitchen cabinet while sitting calmly at my desk in another room.

I said, must be the wind. No, the windows are all closed and no where near the cabinet.

A rodent. I don’t have any rodents, roaches cats, dogs…

Umm..
Then what the f____s going on ?
