i dont mean like spiderman type #.
leading man/woman could work for sure but im thinking character types.

fav male?
fav female?

so i watched three billboards outside ebbing missouri and francis mcdormand goes right to the top of the list with the way she played mildred.
i love the way rooney mara played lisbeth salander in the girl with the dragon tattoo
meryl streep as sophie in sophie's choice
rosemund pike as amy dunne in gone girl

there are more but lets go to the dudes

jeff bridges as the dude in lebowski
tom hardy as freddy in the take. technically it was a tv mini series but whatever. this is probably my all time favorite character portrayal. he is the most unlikable asshole there is in that movie
dustin hoffman as raymond babbitt in rainman for sure
tim roth as mr orange in reservoir dogs

what about you

First person I thought of was Francis McDormand. But for her role in "Fargo" as Marge Gunderson.

"And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money? There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day."

TST, I really like your list too! Meryl Streep on Sophie's Choice, second to none. And Jeff Bridges is great in everything.

i agree of course
meryl is i think arguably the greatest actress of all time.
subjective of course but her body of work is something else.
even meryl had a couple piles of # though.
sophies choice is such a great movie. her accents were difficult and she nailed it.
i think anyway

I don't remember seeing it. I need to though. I'll get it on Netflix soon. Surely it's not better than Jackman & Co. That was a great cast --
Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne. Soooo good.

edit on 12/29/2017 by ladyinwaiting because: forgot Russell Crowe

I don’t really get attached to movie characters, at all...

But I’ve always had a big soft spot for Rorschach since I first saw The Watchmen.

Denzel Washington in anything. One of the best actors I have ever seen.

Ever.

Female actor? My pick is Sigourney Weaver as Ripley.
