..umm..hello.

This, the Introduction, is probably the greatest reason I haven't registered..or rather, the fear of it.

Feels like I have been the shy and odd person, sitting quietly in the corner of a room..never speaking, just listening to what other people have to say.
At some point there might come a moment, when people start wondering who this quite fellow is..so I thought I'd stand up and wave and say hi. Figuratively speaking.

This is the one place, the only place in the virtual world so to speak, to have any meaning for me personally to engage, or participate in as a member of that community.
I have been reading the posts, and getting to know quite a bunch of regular old-timers, as well as some very interesting new ones.

So who is that quiet person?

Someone who likes to stay informed, listening and learning, reading a lot of different topics..perhaps a tad on the sceptical side, but definitely open to various answers, possibilities and explanations. Always in search of the greater truth.

I haven't had much to say in all these years, and probably won't have much in the near future to come, but after a decade of total silence, I thought it would be at least polite to introduce oneself.
I feel like I kind of owe at least that to so many members here, who's contribution has literally had a great impact on who I am as a person, provided so much insight on so many matters, keeping me sane in a world that starts to feel very different from what I have grown to know.

When, or if I ever get to the point of making a thread of my own, it would probably be in the Survival forum. Probably because I'm a hunter myself (trad. bow), with a lot of practical experience of living in this world, on the world's conditions, without the opinions, politics and religions.. because none of those will keep you warm in sub zero temperatures where you need an axe and some logs, and will not fill your stomach when you get hungry. I have acquired the necessary skills to get by, making it to the next day just fine..not having to rely on anything more than my abilities as a human being, with spine and testicles.
I'll be fine without electricity and all the comforts associated, but I also happily use and engage if given the opportunity. Fiddling with automated home solutions, coffee ready when I get home, control my fancy LED strips with my phone etc..because the fun and the opportunity.
If someone takes my phone away, cuts my power, takes my car..so be it. Tomorrow's just another day
Still gotta make it!

A little disclaimer..kind of;
I'm kind of an abstract thinker, and my language isn't English, so apologies if my posts are hard to read

Have a good day.

Interesting. Haven't been there but Finland has an interesting history.

It's the first time I met a Finn in ATS. Most European members here come from UK though there are two Germans.

Pre- or post "independency"?

Before Finland was either eastern Swedish wilderness or western Russian.. wilderness
And what little true independence we have ever had, went out the window by joining the evil union. Just my opinion..and the reason I don't get too much politically engaged.

WW2 and the Cold War. So I would say post independency. Actually there was a thread a few months back that was about Hitler talking to a Finnish official in his normal voice.

Probably Mannerheim. He was president here a short period at the time. There was a period where Finland actually was in alliance with Germany back then..

During the cold war I think we were governed by KGB's puppet Kekkonen..who was president for like a quarter of a century!

..but, can never be too careful in choosing words, or expressing opinion. This point of political view is not very popular here

Regadless history, or indoctrination by it, every person is my frind and will be treated as such, but also, regardless of nationality, showing up at my door looking for trouble will find trouble

Actually, we never lost our independency during ww2, just defended it. Celebrating 100 years of independence this year. So they say..

the dance of my people..let me think, that would be naked in wellingtons, armed with liqueur and a knife, hard core feet stomping, inaugural mumble..usually ends in self-sacrifice. It's a shame, really

But wich country these days can say they are truly free? I guess none..sadly.
I think the freedom must be found within, in our hearts. Merry Christmas.

Not surprised. This is very typical Finnish behavior xD
Very quiet, no smalltalk, definitely no eye contact. Just in general ofcourse.
