At the UN we're always asked to do more & give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don't expect those we've helped to target us. On Thurs there'll be a vote criticizing our choice. The US will be taking names.

The way Nicki Haley worded her statement, it almost sounds as there could be consequences for the recent Security Council Resolution against making any changes in the status of Jerusalem and halt any attempt to relocate embassies there.

I want you to know the President and the US take this vote very personally... The President will be watching this vote carefully and has requested I report back on those who vote against us...

This is certainly an escalation from last years threats from the State Department about terrorist attacks in Russia, of which some happened shortly thereafter.

The UN which has consistently been at the center of controversies itself from rapist peacekeepers to inaction on serious global events, including North Korea. Could a wave of sexual assault claims soon hit the UN like a tsunami of accountability?

Perhaps the end of the UN is neigh??

This will only make sense if We, the taxpayer of the U.S. get to pay for anything "our friends" in Israel™ want...

Edit: And it makes perfect sense that it is this President's Ambassador and "Permanent Representative" What does "Permanent Representative" actually mean? Does this mean a LIFETIME SALARY w/YEARLY INCREASES?

The vote is being taken by member countries, so presumably the implied threat is against member countries.
There is no reason why employed U.N. personnel should feel under threat, since it isn't their decision.

Well this probably the beginning of the fall of the current international order.

Are you saying Trump is gonna fabricate claims about sexual assault? Or he's sitting on proof? Either way, what would that be good for? Like someone said, it's the member states who vote, not UN bureaucrats.

I've got no problem with this new policy on Jerusalem though.

I knew a IT contractor who worked there. He got an international salary that for equality reasons that was equivalent to the diplomatic staff he was working for. When it came to looking for a new apartment to rent, he was shown what he thought was a large open plan apartment with a mezzanine level and high ceilings. "Oh no", said the realtor, "this is just the hallway, your apartment is behind this door".

The world would be better off without it.

And this is a prime example.

A bunch of foreign states throwing a hissy fit as to where WE put our OWN embassy.

Screw them.

I'm thinking that the representatives at the UN may be the worst of the worst people alive. They aren't as bad as the puppets of the EU though, but close.

I doubt if any of those representatives would ever be a soldier in a war. They would stay where it was safe and comfortable.

Sorta like the dozen or so resignations from Congress that were supposedly going to happen within 72hrs? And that post was 5 days ago or 120hrs if my math is correct.

That "You're either with us, or against us" mentality is so funny, coming from an isolated and lonely voice.

And the world is shaking in fear of the revenge of Tronald Dump...

I want you to know the President and the US take this vote very personally... The President will be watching this vote carefully and has requested I report back on those who vote against us...

L O L!!!

In reality nobody takes the "U"SA and his hyperintelligent Oligarch puppet of the "U"S military junta serious anymore, in that dictatorship of the rich. Simply because (rational) thinking people can´t. No matter how hard they try!

How do you want to take somebody like this serious anymore:

Could you please start your overdue civil war and leave the rest of the world alone, would be healthy for the world!

Yes, and who shows up to vote for that member state? Representatives of the state in question. Miss Hailey's opposites, thats who.
Ok so he is just going to cut funding. Still a powerful move. Lets see how friendly our allies are who vote against us when we don't give them anymore money eh?

If nobody is taking us seriously, why do we need to leave the world alone? Obviously nothing we do is serious, so whats the deal right?

You will be eating those words when the EU army rises up and clamps down on those citizens of Eurasia that have aligned with East Asia. Those that remain with Oceania will remain in the free markets, and those who switch sides will be swallowed by the Communist Chinese as they seduce more markets into state ownership.

The President already as much admitted to the shift in global competition. It was Eurasia and Oceania vs East Asia since WW2. But it has now shifted to Eurasia and East Asia vs. Oceania. The good news, we perfected global confrontation and will meet those threats as they arise anywhere our national interests intersect.

Stay with NATO my German friend, and we will be certain your markets can remain open and in private ownership. Who wants to return to the days of partition after all?

Yeah, just wanted to disagree with you about the UN itself being in trouble (though, it could loose prestige if Trump starts making more ruckus, hard to say how things will go in the end, for me at least).

I'm happy to say I agree with Trump here. It'd make sense to pull funding from a state that antagonizes you, and it's also reasonable to remind them of that. And Trump is just enacting what congress decided. I don't think even think the embassy's location matters to the peace process in the ME. They won't have peace until there's a major geopolitical shift of some sort, I think.
