Just glad to know I'm not the only one who finds that sort of begging really, really annoying. Only thing worse is the phone solicitations all day long. All my donations are local, to organizations that make their budgets available to the public---or to family who are working hard but struggling.

It's peer pressure realty. "How are you going to look to the other shoppers?" Screw that. Local charity does the most for the dollar anyways as you've pointed out.
Personally I donate most to the local food bank.

I'd rather give a homeless person money because at least I know it's not going to some CEO of a "charity".

Just thought of something, and in my younger days probably would have done, if asked this respond loudly, "No. This dollar is budgeted for coc aine and hookers".

Thanks for spelling dollar correctly. I have OCD and people at ATS drive me crazy with spelling errors

Another money scam where the collector is the one who rakes in the dough.

So the problem with giving Homeless money is
you don't know what they will do with it, drugs or drink ?
I always opt to buy them food directly or an article of clothing.
