LAPD investigates nearly two dozen sex crime cases tied to Hollywood

LA police are investigating almost 24 cases of a sexual nature that are tied to the entertainment industry. Is this more than average?

Los Angeles police are investigating almost two dozen cases of alleged criminal sexual misconduct connected to multiple people within the entertainment industry, a senior department official told NBC News.

The cases involve individuals who are known publicly as well as others who have not yet been identified, the official said Friday.

Sexual misconduct to felony rape. There are also multiple complaints against the same person. The NYPD have said the Weinstein who has 85 women accuse him of being naughty is "credible". Perhaps deep doo doo for Harvey?

Allegations span from misdemeanor sexual battery to felony rape, and in many cases, there are multiple complaints lodged against the same individual, the official said. With calls from victims continuing to roll in, the number of investigations is expected to rise.

Some of the cases the LAPD is beyond the statute of limitations. But California dropped the statute on some sex crimes, like rape and child molestation just for American's sweet heart Bill Cosby.

Half of the cases under investigation by the LAPD fall beyond the state's statute of limitations, which means they've passed the time limit to be prosecuted, the official added.

Considering that this has been going on for so long, I find the credibility of the LAPD to be highly suspect.

Money has covered for their crimes long enough, great example of what I mean is Corey Feldman went the LAPD back in the 90's and it went nowhere.

Hopefully the not corrupt aspects of the LAPD are finally being given a chance now that there is so much attention and exposure going on.

These "investigations" will go only so far until they reach someone high up in the LAPD or local govt. Then, they will mysteriously stop and fizzle out with no press. It's all just justice theater to appease the masses in the short-term. Then, the status quo will return.

I suspect that a couple of "low level" Hollywood celebrities will be found guilty. But I also think that a big wig will be investigated and will "commit suicide" over it and that will end it all.

This crap has been going on in Hollywood for many years. I remember hearing about the casting couch when I was a kid in the 70's

During the LA Riots, the LAPD abandoned the working class Koreans and other minorities to protect Hollyweird and other rich areas. That should tell you where their loyalties lie.........

I'm glad to see the investigations happening in a relatively public way, but I will have to wait and see if I think that they'll be done correctly.

Is that 2 dozen a week or what? The number of cases actually occurring has to be well above that from everything we hear and read.

I think the reason this is happening is probably because the Obama/Clinton/Bush pedophile clan isn't in office to prevent it from being investigated anymore.

I have to wonder just how these claims can be investigated after so long...surely its just a case of hearsay by now, no evidence will exist. I wonder what the criteria is for bringing actual charges?

All seems highly suspect, the fact that these women can make these unfounded allegations publicly without necessarily reporting to the Police and bringing a case

You say 'no evidence' is likely to exist. WItness testimomy is evidence, corroborating testimony is evidence. Even in recent abuse/ assault cases physical evidence is problematic.

This is my point, witness evidence? The same witness evidence that is said to be "unreliable" in all other cases? But yet is now perfectly acceptable in these cases? And just what consitutes witness evidence other than "she said he said"? Its tricky I know but I'm not happy that all these people are being accused without trial etc. If there is a case to answer it should be done between the victim and perp and police, not in the media....until possibly after any trial
