Here's KDKA local.

The damn flag seems to have never been at full mast, Another week of half mast.

My god, so young and dies so unexpectedly. Traffic stops today are more like Russian roulette, never knowing when you are walking up on a drawn weapon. Praying for his family, and for a life lost so young and needlessly

RIP officer

Apparently this is the price of freedom.

If guns were not so readily available for everyone, do you think this tragedy may not have occurred?

How do you defend yourself from a police officer, if need be, if you have no way to match his/her service weapons?

Yes, and I know you probably don't want to hear this, but that's part of the 2A as well.

OK then , so guns are to protect you from tyrannical police officers now?

What do you mean, "now"? It's always had that component. You have the right to defend yourself regardless of who it might be.

Better be a warranted action or that's your a$$ though.

What ? If a cop pulls a gun on you are you saying you are justified in retaliation?

Please keep the political stuff out of this. This is not a gun thread.

Show some respect guys. This is a tragedy because a human being was murdered.

Does every last topic have to devolve to the same worn out political back and forth?

What does the term "cop" have to do with it? Remove "cop" and insert "person"...

There's obviously, HOPEFULLY a very good reason the "cop" has drawn on a person with lethal intent.

What if there is no reason?

No, you don't call it tragedy and not talk about it.

It is a gun thread, the cop would not have been shot with A GUN at a random stop if guns were not the problem.

You want to throw out the respect card then you had damn well start looking at the reality of the position you are in.

OK if you can show me another western country where cops are shot regularly at random stops, I'm all ears?

No, but pretty much everything that could be said about this was summed up by the first few replies.

Are you saying you wish this to be a memorial thread? Where every reply is typical and redundant?

Cop gave foot chase..
Where is it yet he drew his side arms?
Only fact yet is the officer was shot and died so far..

“Tonight, our department was involved in an incident where our officer attempted to make a traffic stop. The traffic stop lead to a foot pursuit. At some point during the foot pursuit, shots were fired. My officer was hit and he succumbed to his injuries. The officer is Officer Brian Shaw, patrolman. He’s been with the New Kensington Police Department for less than a year. I’m asking anybody, anybody with any information, as [small] as they think it might be, please, please give us a call. We need to find the person that did this.”

Why would I do that? Personally, I'm not concerned with other western countries especially if this isn't happening as much in those other countries as you are implying I presume.

This my country, my shared problem, but no one is responsible for this particular incident other than the shooter. Period.

Fair enough I should tone it down.

I'm really getting sick of the excuses used to justify senseless murder.

Cops should not be getting shot at random traffic stops this is a sign of a sick society..

That sounds great but the reality is bad people always find a way to get an instrument of death..

Guns are basically banned around these parts unless you have big bucks and are connected or can show a real need; gold shop owner for one... .. People get shot every few months except down south where the Muslims kill someone basically every month.. Like I said guns are not available for the average person yet people get shot and there are raids by law enforcement that seem to turn up full auto AKs and other weapons.. Like I said designated bad people in a society have their ways and means of creating mayhem and death..

There you go AGAIN...geezus!!

This is the sign of a sick INDIVIDUAL!!

INDIVIDUAL!! NOT INDIVIDUALS!!

This is not indicative of a society as a WHOLE!

Are you PERSONALLY responsible for EVERY crime your fellow citizens commit, regardless!!??

You have every right to feel that may be the case FOR YOU, but it's moronic to believe that.

Would you agree that if this criminal did not have a gun, it would have been far more difficult for him to kill the cop.?

Settle down, now that you have taken a deep breath.

Ask yourself how you really feel about sick individuals whom have easy access to high powered weapons, getting these weapons and turning them on innocent people who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Holy hell really?! Really? Your going to start the whole gun grab while the body is still warm? And hell maybe your right maybe it would not have happened. Maybe it would have been a stabbing. Or a beating. Maybe a hit and run. What people forget is that if one wanted to harm another they can do it without the aid of guns.
