They really need to make having a gun extremely unattractive to criminals like caught with gun an automatic 5 years, commit a crime with gun 20 to life. Convict those people with same crime who sell to people with mental illness.

To buy a gun, it should be required that you pass a mental evaluation or that you do not have people in your life who has a mental illness. Check your past and make sure you have no history of violence.

Latest report is 5 dead including the shooter. There were 7 different shooting scenes and there may be more victims.

Sheriff Johnston says he was randomly choosing targets. Investigators recovered a semi automatic rifle and 2 handguns.

7 people injured including children. One child and mother was shot while riding in a pickup truck.

You of course are absolutely correct and that's been the point all along; you can confiscate the guns from the law abiding while the criminals buy firearms on the black market, thus exploding the number of potential victims all across the country.

What the gun control nuts don't get is that the US is so politically and administratively broken that it's a country near without any effective border control.

But the curious point that came to my mind is that instead of focusing on gun control, maybe its time to seriously reconsider how children are educated! These big-campus public schools are clearly targets for the nutburgers in this society; maybe they need to be broken up, made smaller and as soon as possible replace the wasted class time with internet learning systems. Of course the leftist teachers unions would scream and say crap like, "But the kids won't get proper socialization skills", which may well be true..............but what kind of socialization skills are they learning NOW:

Your supposition is correct that if guns didn't exist school shootings wouldn't exist.

But they do exist, and it is a reality we have to live with. Laws will always be too little too late when it comes to actually stopping tragedies (and all crime, for that matter). Laws are decent at punishing crime, but not very good at preventing or stopping it.

Government malfeasance will always circumvent even the most effective systems (like NICS). If properly reported to, NICS is a one stop shop for determining whether someone is a prohibited person. We need to expand access to this system, even by private non-FFL sellers.

In some cases they have to.

A felon with a firearm is going to have to be investigate by the FBI in order to ascertain, through NCIC and the ATF records office to trace the firearm and figure out where it came from.

Many gun owners are for tougher laws for gun crime violators, but that's seen as "racist" and fought by gun control advocates hand and foot. Obama was commuting sentences of people convicted of gun crimes.

I think that could go a long way...


I mean... If you’re teaching 4 & 5 yr olds about sex and gender dysphoria (which I have no problem with) why wouldn’t you teach them about fire arms?

I don’t mean some 10 minute session where an expert comes in but full blown classes about Guns.

Education and training is ALWAYS recommended. It probably would go a long way in terms of safety issues. But murderous intent can't be trained out of someone.

There are campaigns to increase gun education to cut down on accidents. It's being led by organizations like the NRA and National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), who are considered evil by gun control advocates.

How does gun education stop someone who decides to kill people with a gun? Does drivers ed prevent someone from running down a crowd of people with a car or truck?
