For years i have wondered about the meaning of life.

I had this awfully crippling feeling about the unknown. This is pretty much why humans created religion, doesn't it? But i have yet to see a religion that explains what happens to the soul after eternity. What happens if we never ever trully die? Eternal life without end. I mean budhism handles it well with reincarnation, but i mean, the universe will end one day so, we can't endlessly reincarnate.

Anyway, i started meditating to help myself.

Just few days ago.. I have the most amazing experience ever. In the middle of meditation i saw a disfigured body, almost like a shadow screaming. Usually a sane person would be suprised and stop, but i continued... Seriously, i through it was some kind of halucination because i havent eaten for some time.

For the next 10 minutes the figure stayed there and watched me (the screaming turned to whispers then just dissapeared).

Then, i said , well not really said, i just through about it : Stop watching me like a creep. If you have someonething usefull to say or do, do it now. Tell mr the meaning of life for instance.

And he started talking. Without saying a word, yet i ca hear everything. He explained everything about the universe and existance... Then i woke up 13 hours later in my bed.

Seriously could have just been a dream, but honestly, i have never felt more in peace. I don't feel anything even close to depressing feelings.

So, if you want to as me something about the life , the universe and everything else, you are welcome to do it. I will try to answer and i promise it wont be 42 xD

Don't expect too much tho. This is all science than religion.(But i can be hunted down irl for sharing it xD Its ok tho)

Loving and raising my children has been the most meaningful and satisfying of anything I've done in my life. It's so profound I suspect the satisfaction is instinctual, chemical, or genetic.

Aside from my kids, anything where I build something with craft where I see my efforts in my work as been very satisfying and meaningful.

In terms of happiness, I have found I personally experience high levels of happiness playing games of chance with a group of friends. Cards and board games.

It's hard for to attached anything too deep to the meaning of my existence. I am simple person. As the brain matures many of your perspectives on life get altered in subtle ways. I find many people are very heady. They spend too much time in their own thinking and sometimes lose site of what is meaningful on a simple level.

Actualy you will be suprised how simple the maning of life is. It is something we fight against and put walls around. Regulations. We hope for a higher power to hide the simple truth.

Maybe it keeps it interesting that the meaning is not so straight forward, if there is one.

That sounds like a very interesting experience.
Thank you for sharing it.

So. What is the meaning of life?
Why are we here?
Does it have meaning or is it just an accident?

Human beings are God's way of experiencing the thrill of having limitations by sharing in our experiences of joys and frustrations.

Thats the fun part xD There is absolutely no real meaning. Our own existance is to do whatever we want and act any way because each and every one of us have their own meaning of life. And all those feelings are creation of our own existance, aka life path. The way we are designed as livig being , the way the wil of everyone else influences us.

Our own will define us as who we are and we on our own decie what our meaning of life will be.

But shortly put, yeah there is no real meaning. Just life to the fullest.

We are here cos we were born. Realy it wasnt a mistake. We are created through the will of someone else.

There is no after eternity. Eternity is forever.
You're looking at the next 'life from this perspective. Thats like saying I'm tired of life, when you're still in the womb.

How can you be tired, you haven't even been born yet?

Yup. But if that knowledge is too hard on the mind of normal people and can bring some destructive tendencies xD

Best you can do is live to the fulles but at the same time to be limited by the will of others. All wills are connected after all. Our wills are directly opposed to all others. As much as we are gods of our own life, as much others are to ours too.

Knowing the truth of the world wont change the hard facts that we live in a limited world with limits all around us. We are not born with knowledge, we are shaped by the knowledge of the others.

Yeah, sorry for wording it wrong
we have no knowledge of life when we are born so, it wouldn't make sence to be bored of it xD

Check out the thread "lifting the Veil". The OP, as well as other members have contributed valuable information in it.

It is many pages long, 96 but I think you will find what you are looking for, or at the very least, a place to start.

The OP promised it wouldn't be 42.

It's really 56, everyone knows that.

So, what happens to the soul when the universe ends?

What happens immediately after we die? Do we reincarnate? Return to the Source? Stick around haunting old houses? Do we retain our individuality (or illusion of it)? Do we choose what we want to do next?

Or is it just "Ok, you lived your ONE human life and wasted it being miserable. Game over, lights out" ?

The way I view it, and I don't by any means think it's definite, is this.

When we die, our consciousness as we know it ceases to be. We are "lifted up" to our higher consciousness which I believe is like waking from a dream about being someone else (that's a rough depiction, but best I can explain).

We are then given the chance to reflect upon that life's lessons and return to learn the next. It is when we have learned all we can, that our "higher self" is able to move on in it's "evolution". (After that, it's anyone's guess lol)

(note, the quotations are parts that I find hard to define and am just trying to get an idea across)
