Big difference in how Trump greets the Japanese leader too.

And we have Obama meeting Saudi King, and I am still convinced he kissed his hand.

Yeah, keep praising Trump (praise him, praise him) and you, too, will get to be a robot worker with zero rights and zero quality of life. Seriously, I would rather be dead than have to live like those guys.

Everyone wants those "good factory" jobs to come back. What on earth do you think they are except assembly line jobs? The only "good" part was when the union could force businesses to jack the wages up so that a union schlub could make $30/hour pretending to be a high value laborer with a high school degree and make more than some degreed professionals.

Bowing is a sign of subjectification to another's authority. It is not a sign of a leader. Even animals in the wild or your own domesticated pets understand the natural order of authority. Bowing is a sign of great weakness.

Certainly it is when you bow lower.

Well, Obama was a rational man who disliked the dictatoric way of the Chinese government.

Trump likes autocrats (Putin, Al-Aziz, ..). WELCOME, FRIEND!

Bingo, we have winner on Page 1, comment nr 3!

There are 3 black college basketball players who just got accused in Hangzhou of shoplifting... why? Because they were black foreigners

And how do you know that they didn't shoplift? I'm willing to give china some leeway until we get the whole story.

Or we could go with the most obvious reason for the differences... they knew how obama was going to act so there was no need to butter him up.

This is Trumps first visit in the region so it makes sense that they roll out the red carpet to try and get a read on how he is going to deal with them.

genuflecting , bowing , taking a knee

maybe a show of submission to another , but doesnt necessarily depict a weakness
more it shows you are willing to follow others , or submit to their ideas
and often for one strong to submit to another is not a sign of weakness
it can take great strength and trust to follow

the first thing they teach you in the military is how to follow
so that you can function , but also so that one day you may become a great leader

I imagine you yourself would look much like Obama if you ever were in the presence of dear leader.

Yeah I was going to mention Dictators like other dictators as long as they are not impinging (pissing) on their territory...

There is now a well known adage around the world:

Dealing with the Trumps is like dealing with idiot royalty.

Give them a big fanfare and lots of ceremony and make them feel very very very important, and their egos will be soothed, and they'll buy whatever it is you try and sell them.

The Saudi's knew this, the Chinese knew this, the British knew this when they promised him a grand state visit (and then embaressingly had to withdraw it following political protest). The only people who don't seem to know how easily they are manipulated is the Trump family itself.

Strange that Obama allowed the TPP to go through, while Trump nullified it. Obama clearly wad following orders with the TPP, so they didn't really need to show him any respect.

While I think some of Trump's pandering to lunatics is distasteful, I do think his negotiating and underhanded tactics will ultimately do well for us.

Another funny thing is Obama was probably bothered by the snub, while Trump is likely completely nonplussed by any shows of respect or ass-kissing. He may have just the right mix of personality disorders to be the right man for the job.

Trumps been to China many times as a businessman he knows the rules and culture. Now as a world leader it's easy for him and they want to impress him. They probably know him better than most of us do.

President Trump's welcome to the "forbidden city" of Beijing was electric. The people there are very intuitive too!

Beijing residents told the independently run South China Morning Post in a Wednesday feature that they found U.S. President Donald Trump “more honest than Obama” but “disrespectful.”

LOL..President Trump didn't bow down to President Xi Jinping's crotch, like Obama did. The nerve!

China is sending a message to North Korea that it backs US efforts in the area and that North Korea should chill the #### out.

In my opinion.

Read what the Op has stated, the following can be stated:
Why yes there is a big difference between Trump landing in China as there is when Obama landed in China. But then again, there is always a difference between the greetings that the different US presidents have received throughout the years, since Nixon first went there and normalized relations between China and the USA.

China is the proverbial tiger in the woods, one that is both amazing and dangerous at the same time. Make no mistake, every time a US visits China, they tend to go through something different as to test how the President will react, as best to figure out the man. And in this case, I would say that they already have read and have a good understanding of Trump and will cater to his greatest weakness, his ego.

Make no mistake, the Chinese are playing a game and they will try to manipulate the President in ways he may not be prepared. And it shows, as he is going to have dinner in the Forbidden City, and that in itself is very telling.

You're right. After China started restricting the number of type of financial transactions with North Korea, the Nuclear and Missile tests suddenly stopped. Got Kim Jong's attention for sure.

So you think China is pulling the wool over President Trump's eyes? Could be. He spoke VERY harshly (even for Trump) of their trade practices while he was campaigning for President.

Lol. You have no idea what you're talking about. Bowing in most, if not all cases, is a sign of respect. That's why you never see Trump bow because the only thing he respects is money.

If what you say is true, the leaders of South Korea, Japan, and China didn't get the memo. If you've been watching President Trump's Asian tour, those men did not bow (show respect) to him, or anyone else.
