Here's the link

Information is starting to leak out about a US citizen being held in Iraq. The US claims he went to join ISIS but so far hasn't charged him with a crime. His name is being kept secret, and he has no access to legal representation. All that's known is that he's been held by order of Trump for two months now.

It seems Trump is moving forward with another campaign promise, where he stated he wanted to expand Guantamo, use it against US citizens, and use military tribunals rather than civilian courts.

Even if you assume everything the government has said in this case is true, it still involves arresting someone and detaining them for something they were going to do in the future, rather than something they've actually done.

Trump did this? Or someone in his administration?

I'm pretty sure the patriot act covers this and US citizens can be help without charges when they are suspected of terrorist affiliation.

Sure wouldn't be the first citizen held without trial.
Obama had several killed by drone strike.
So what's new?

Maybe it's new the left is starting to realise that their ideas and infrastructure isn't so funny anymore when they are on the wrong side?

Naaaah... that could not be..

I think its terrible that this is going on.

This kind of practice should have been stopped a long time ago, Bush done it, Obama was actually assassinating American citizens and now Trump is doing it.

Just because pervious presidents have been at the top of the table when this has happened in the past however still does not make it right. If he has committed a crime then he should be subject to the same justice system as everyone else, this kind of detention is wrong.

Your point? An analogy. If found with kiddie porn can one say that they are innocent because it was available? Nice attempt at deflection though.

As to this? Same ole from Washington. But Trump is so much different from his predecessors though, right? Pfft.

Good point.. maybe New is the left crying about the death penalty for a foreign terrorist...

But did nothing when Obama PERSONALLY signed of on dead strikes to US citizens without a fair trial.

When do they wake up ????????

Something interesting I've noticed is that everything involving the military is now labeled as "trump". Yet when Obama was president it was always "US military did this...or US government did that...". It seems when a Republican is president all issues are labeled as being due to Trump, when Democrats in that changes.

I have to agree with you, this is an unconstitutional act and must be ended.
Military tribunals are bad enough and should be open to the civil process of whatever country they are detained from.
Because past Presidents have done this is no excuse to continue it.

My Point is blaming Trump for it. Because the agenda is making him look bad in every way.

So are any Trump supporters going to call this out as wrong or just carry one talking about "ohhhh but Obama...."?

The progress of human evolution, imo, should be toward greater freedoms. We've expanded our empire by claiming that we were freeing people from oppressive dictators and theocracies. In the meantime we've continued to reduce our own freedoms. For all of the people who routinely denigrate those who stand for the 2nd Amendment maybe you should take some pointers from them because all of our other rights are routinely trampled upon.

The patriot act clearly allows for this.
