That's two things plus a potential sum greater than the parts angle.

It's a single concept.

It has always been known that America would be destroyed from within. But no one ever said that our enemies wouldn't help it along.

I always want to know who I am standing shoulder to shoulder with.

You will never see me at a protest. For anything.

You will never see me at a political rally.

You never know who is pulling the strings or what their goals are.

That's precisely what I was thinking.

Facebook: Up to 126 million people saw Russian-planted posts

The so-called organic posts were planted by the Russia-based Internet Research Agency during the period from January 2015 to August 2017, Facebook General Counsel Colin Stretch will say, according to a copy of his written testimony obtained by POLITICO.

This gives more weight to my hypothesis that Russia did meddle in the election purely for their own gain to play everyone off each other, to weaken the USA at a time when Russia are looking to expand.

I'm glad someone's covering this kind of stuff on ATS, Russia pretended to be quite a few different political groups based in the U.S. on Facebook. It seems as if they were trying to egg on extremists in order to divide America, often pretending to be people on both sides of the aisle.

I sure don't think it's ethical, and I definitely think it is a national security issue. Luckily, big players like Facebook are looking into ways to prevent this kind of fraud.

I'm glad it's coming out that Russia was trying to manipulate both sides, for a while it seemed like conservatives were going along with everything Russia was doing because it seemed like it benefited them.

Apparently seeing as how I have argued somewhat against Trump, and a lot against Hillary, I guess I am quite the russian mouth piece.

Where are my sweet, sweet Rubles?

I feel the same way. I hate protesters (regardless of cause).

They are annoying, useless, mouth breathers.

Lets see
Protesters , yeah who needs em....
Ended a useless war
Helped usher in the EPA and establish guidelines for companies on pollution
Regulations on cutting down trees by the lumber companies
And......brought about the one of the greatest changes in US history - Civil Rights

So , who needs em , right ?
Maybe expand on the subject and state certain modern day protestors next time

I bet they are smiling in Russia. They can do this athousands of times for less than the cost of paying a lobbyist for a year.

The GASLIGHTING in this thread is ... disturbing to say the least...

Google and Facebook have been cleaning up, identifying Russia based propaganda efforts. ATS should do the same. There’s no reason a site like this one wouldn’t attract those efforts.

Yep, someone needs to start a thread about this as well:

Twitter Offered Russian TV Network 15% Of Its Total Share Of US Elections Advertising

Twitter wanted RT to spend big ahead of the 2016 US election, offering a significant portion of its election-related ad inventory in return. The social media company offered the Russian state–owned television network up to a 15% share of voice ("SOV") on US election advertising — or the percent of all ads run on that topic — for $3 million.

Link

It's a shame that this:

52 USC 30121(a)

It shall be unlawful for— a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make— an expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication

...only applies to "broadcast, cable, or satellite"

It seems we're due for an update, seeing as how the technology has evolved since that was put onto the books.

if ats had a clean up, it's likely the only people left would be the mandela effect types who, no doubt could come from a timeline where hillary won and i imagine the internet would implode.

It's all about clicks and views my friend.

The more clicks and views ATS gets, the longer the lights stay on. It's shame though that companies don't realize their advertisements are being wasted on troll/shill accounts.

The simple solution here is to overhaul the education system.

If it's a weakness Russia is exploiting the changes need to be at home, blaming them then crying about censorship will only lead to more exploitation.

Yep, that's a great website. It tracks the trending topics and news stories being pushed by known Russian propaganda assets.

It even breaks down what time of day they are the most active. It's always interesting to watch it shift around according to what the current political climate is like in America.

Usually right before any bad news for the Trump administration drops, there's a sharp uptick in activity you can actually see.
