I'd say that's true but the Mafia isn't real.

Neither is the suite they have at the Bellagio reserved for their favorite trio of "consultants".

Money, church, people, what possibly could go wrong?

Evil is always where you least expect it.

Either them or New Apostolic Reformation ...en.wikipedia.org... its not really new but has been flying under the radar so not a lot of people know about them .

When I was a kid and attending church services for the first time, I saw the offering plates passed, then carried to the front an placed on a table in front of the 'alter'. The robed priest lifted a plate aloft over his head, holding it up to the alter and setting it back on the table. I remember getting in trouble when I asked (something like) is that when god takes the money?

Religion is like Amway.

The product is great.

The salespeople are all screwed up.

I didn't empty the mini fridge out. It was the other guy who isn't staying there.

I'd like to think this isn't troll bait. He said, she said. Credibility is the issue.

Actually I felt the same when the poster put it up. My thoughts still haven't changed yet also. But this is a very interesting subject and if is a bait type thread, well, maybe we'll learn something about each other here also.

So with that, I'll add my 2 cents to this. Giving from the heart and having a guilt free conscious will leave you to think one thing, it is not necessary to give 10% of your weekly, monthly efforts to any religious business organization. One has to think that this type of mental programming begins when one is young and attending an organization that the person preaches only preaches due to the fact that person is getting a monetary reward for such actions. Brainwashing the youth is important to continue the sick "demand" of 10% that one must "PAY", notice I said pay the church. If you been to church recently, the shadow behind the "door" is no longer saying "GIVE". One I noticed that with whom that was helping me, I charged back at them.
I don't actually give money these days and chances are I will not, but I give without thought that it is my time in helping out with the people that go to the place of worship that I attend. If they don't like it, they won't see me there again.
I went to a mega church while I was back in the States 3 years ago at Christmas time, I was quick to realize how religion went from preaching the word of wisdom ( whatever one wants to call it) from joy of the heart to now "joy of going to the bank (the owners of all mega churches, notice I said "owners") with loads of cash in a nice new Jaguar.
My conclusion was, my church is in my heart, my belief or "acceptance" of any way of life is always subject to change upon the environment that I live in.
Mega churches needs millions of dollars for the "owners" can live a life style only ... I stop here. Let your imagination and dreams carry you through on the next Sunday at church.

That's what you think....God didn't start the New Covenant it was written by man because man got tired of all the hard work and became a slacker.

He wants more than 10% now....He wants it all! Most supreme beings don't have "oh never mind" in their lexicon.

You'll see....

Arguable, but I don't think you can disconnect the Old Testament without severely damaging the meaning and purpose of the New.

God has always wanted 100% from us, He definitely gave 100% of Himself, for us.

If someone chooses to subject himself to this kind of crap, he deserves it. In God we trust; all others pay cash. Membership in a totalitarian church is not required. You can still tell them to go to Hell.

It's called tithing and has been around since biblical times and is common practice with Jews, Christians and other religions around the world. Typically a tithe is 10% but often they just ask for what you can afford. With Christians, the money usually goes to the upkeep of the church and to pay the Pastor and the other workers such as secretaries, janitors etc. Being a Pastor/Preacher is a full time job and many of the other jobs are as well. And the church requires upkeep, just like a home. Windows get broken, roofs need repair, plumbing, electrical, etc. Someone's got to pay for all that.

The bible does say pay your tithing coin to the church. But...
For an institution that preaches Faith, they don't seem to have much faith in their patrons to stoop to demanding w2s.
