You *are* innocent until proven guilty in the United States of America.

**** Unless we're talking about civil forfeiture, or other acts such as the PATRIOT act or NDAA, or probably dozens of other possible situations.

On topic - I do find it odd that he included a "coming out" message in his apology. It seems to me that a lot of these celebrities try to capitalize on their stance (whether it be sincere or not) for the LGBTQ community. It wouldn't surprise me if that were what he's trying to do here.

He invited a child alone to an adult party?

No excuse for anything that happened after that, the intent should have been clear. No one at that party seen anything wrong with a kid being there alone?

Seriously, disturbing, disgusting. Beyond words. Indefensible.

Children of Hollywood attend parties all of the time. It's called social networking.

It doesn’t negate it, it lessens the story’s edge and garners him sympathy.

This is in the eyes of his well-paid publicists, who live and breathe manipulating people’s images. And their experts in damage control like this.

Well, IMHO, civil forfeiture without proven guilt is theft, pure and simple. And yes, I understand your point there 100%.

Second..... as a gay man, and one that kept that aspect of themselves from the public eye (as it is one of their freaking business)..... what would you have HONESTLY expected his reaction to be?

I would have expected his "coming out" to be a separate announcement altogether, especially for something as important as his own sexuality if he wants to share it with the world.

By grouping it in with this accusation of taking advantage and inappropriately engaging in an adolescent, it doesn't look good.

I don't care if he's gay, I do care if he's an attempted child raper.

"Attempted Child Raper"

Interesting.

He made an advance, while drunk.... his advance was spurned, and he didn't actually rape anyone.

"String his leftist, gay ass up! Where's the wood? Where's the oil?"

That's what I'm reading in your statement.

Well, I believe that people who are reading his statement that way are *LOOKING* for a problem to have with it.

It's not the way I read it at all. Funny how perspective shapes perception.

It hurts to think there are actually parents that would probably be fine with their 14-year old going to a Hollywood party un-chapperoned....as long as they have an opportunity to land a part ($$$)!!

So Kevin Spacey, it seems, was/is a drunken bi-sexual pedo prone actor?! Heck, isn't that an extra step toward some additional award!? Isn't that the Hollyweird way?

It was assault and potentially statuary rape.

Then you need to work on your reading comprehension.

You support a guy who tried to rape a 14 year old boy? The other thing noone is asking is why was a 14 year old boy at a party with adults alone?

Herebis how that converstion should have went down:

Kid: mom, dad Kevin Spacey invited me to party can I go ?

Parent: Sure we are going with you

Kid: Kevin Spacey said only me

Parents: Then no you can’t go

Problem averted

Or... since it was 1986...

Parents & Child: "Who the hell is Kevin Spacey?"

Problem averted in this scenario as well.

I have a question. Did your parents know, at the time they left you in this teen's care, that he was gay? What did they know about him, or THINK they knew about him? Was he a neighbor, a relative, or just a hired-off-an-ad individual?

Maybe the abuse warped your mind .
Sounds like it did .
If you defend a peado your just as bad

I am defending him based off of the laws that we have here in the United States.

Pure and simple. I did not say I supported what he may or may not have done. Not at all.

What I support is the way he came forward and showed true concern for the man. What would you have, have him say "Yes, YES.... I did it! I raped that boy that was 12 years younger than I was?" ?

DO YOU remember everything you did and did not do when you were drunk from 34 years ago?

No, being drunk does not excuse what he is being accused of doing. However, it is an accusation.

You *are* innocent until proven guilty in the United States of America.

No your guilty if you do it , regardless of what a judge says .

So if he did it and gets found not guilty, does that mean he didn't do it .

He knows he did it ,because you would remember getting naked and jumping on a 14 year old boy. Drunk or not !

Why is he not denying it ?

#dontdefendapeado

Like he said he is sorry if he DID do it

This broke my heart and disgusted me. I was a big fan of Kevin Spacey. This isn't a matter of apologizing, it's criminal. Fourteen years old is a child.

While I wish that I had been afforded the same chance to "grow up normally" without outside influence, I have never felt angry towards the man that molested me. Not once.

And is this how you would feel if it were your child? Your 5-year-old helpless baby?

The fact he used his sexual orientation to try and deflect is telling.

A simply, sincere apology would have been more appropriate. The way he did it makes it look like he is using the fact he is gay to reduce his guilt.

I guess he should have simply said "I'm guilty" and eaten a bullet on live pay per view.

Such a wonderful and Christian way of our country to see things.

Well, a Christan would be required to, yeah, not lie. Required to renounce their sins and stop sinning.

No, we are not to judge the person but yes judge the actions.
Romans 1:26-28
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

Did you tell your parents? At 5 yrs. old, you have enough language and communication skills to do so.

If you did, what did they do? Surely, they didn't allow him to continue his babysitting services.

I commend you for not letting anger and resentment consume you, and for having the inner strength to forgive. But, I hope this individual never did this to another child!

Pedophilia is sick sick sick. But, I think there is a conspiracy to push for it being called just another "orientation" and that is disturbing. Periodically, throughout human history, society begins to deteriorate into debauchery and a kind of numbness toward degeneracy. It is important, imo, for this to be resisted, but it becomes difficult when it reaches critical mass.

Your mood says witty and gay, if you are gay do you think you would have been if not raped by the teen?

Fourteen years old is a child.

Around the world the age of consent goes from 11 to 21. Obviously there is a wide gray area. Even in the US it is 16 in many states.
