P.S. Having watched through the video, I must now observe that two of the examples are not real mistakes.
"Monkey nuts" are a genuine food item, one of the varieties of nuts we used to eat at Christmas.
"Spotted dick" is a genuine old British recipe. According to my cookbook, you will need 3oz self-raising flour, 3oz fresh breadcrumbs, 3oz shredded
suet, 2oz caster sugar, and about 4 table-spoons of milk. Edit; Forgot the currants (6oz)! That's where the spots come from, of course.
Mix into a dough, roll it out into a cylinder, wrap in grease-proof paper and foil, and steam for two hours. The appeal of the commercial version
must be that it is quicker.
