Which is why I fear a Brave New World society. In fact, I can understand why John the Savage committed suicide and why most people take Soma. Without Soma, they would have gone mad. You have to have a strong mind to even process it.

I would rather live in Oceania or even North Korea than to see that.

While I agree with Bess that we are beginning to see signs of Brave New World, at this point we are in the 1984 stage. In the US, we are seeing the emergence of the surveillance society and the erosion of freedoms (Patriot Act and the Han Solo incident).

Wait, do you mean this:

Over 400,000 dead in Syria alone since 2011.

They picked a good month to make that clip though.
www.salon.com...

Then not all violence in measured in proper wars.

Which that clip wont get as they dont even account for the new spectre of imperial proxy wars, hell they dont even acknowledge the existence of American Imperialism let alone the EU as an empire, or NATO imperialism.

Just because people are still dying unfairly around the world still doesn't mean we aren't in the most peaceful time in Human history. It just means that MORE than 400,000 people died at earlier points in human history. I never said that violence was gone altogether and the world is one giant utopia or anything. I mean, do you honestly think that today is as bad as it was during the darkest days of WWII or WWI? The Middle Ages?

PS: You are employing a fallacy of large numbers with your Syria example.

Just because empires / nation states arent as often directly overtly duking it out doesnt mean its the some extraordinarily peaceful time in history. Its just framed differently. Take the two 'proper' World Wars out of the umber and lets have a look at that graph, mkay.

At this point forward I request that you bring forth evidence of your conjecture. I've provided my evidence and you have given nothing but your stubbornness to admit you were wrong.

Yes and one day it is going to be humans just like Brave New World. Meanwhile natural born humans will either be put in special "reservations" or for political prisoners will face the 1984 treatment.

I need to know is that lambs 'womb' preceding from an embryo, was a natural conception involved and partly grown in Utero, then transferred to the 'man made' Womb?

Will it survive to birth?

Yes, the lamb was in a natural womb for the first 23 weeks then transferred to the plastic bag filled with amniotic fluid. It was a research programs for improving the prospects of premature births. Unless both the plastic bag and amniotic fluid were used, the lamb wouldn't live due to infections.

Thank you for the clarity...

I think it's hilarious that they end up naming a muscle relaxer Soma (carisoprodol) .
Using the Nazi Research into forced twinning combined with these new artificial wombs the stage is setup for all of your worst horror movie dystopian nightmares

Soon it'll be like that tv show, Zoo.

You're right...

It's far worse.

If it was as bad as 1984, the thought police would have already got you for making this post and you would be heading to room 103. (Or whatever it was again)

So no, it's no where near as bad.

We also have waaaaaay more people in earth now.

On a per capita basis, we absolutely live in the most peaceful, tolerant time in history, at least in the western world.

Does that mean it's perfect and our government's don't commit terrible acts? Of course not.

A novel by Huxley.

I would have figured one such as yourself who believe the western world is the root of all evil would have read it already.

It will be great when they get that synthetic womb perfected.

Then certain segments of our population will no longer have the murder argument to use to block abortion rights. All the mother has to do is go to the synthetic birth clinic and have the fetus removed and placed in a synthetic womb. Then the government can pay for the removal, gestation, and birth of the child; without forcing women to be government mandated womb units for children that the don't necessarily want or can care for.

Neither book will happen in the future. Predicting the future is impossible and neither of these authors are going to be successful with it either. For every parallel you can find between a Brave New World or 1984 and modern society, I can find many more examples that don't align with those books.

Anyone who thinks that a book written in the 1930's truly understands or describes today's world or direction it is going is naive.

Well just don't complain too loud, your GD TV, cellphone, ipad, Kindle and toaster are listening.

Dear god! What is it you suggest the government do with said children once born?

I'll let the Religious Right figure that out. They're the ones who claim to want to save them.
