Third US Carrier Deploys To the Western Pacific

The USS Roosevelt is being deployed to the Western Pacific theater. It joins the Carl Vinson and the Ronald Reagan already int he area. The Pentagon has denied this has anything to do with North Korea and tend to agree. The USS Nimitz Battle group will move from he Persian Gulf area ad back to the 7th fleet area of operations and the TR will eventually replace it. The Vinson has been deployed since the beginning of the year and I'm betting could stand to come into port for a stretch.

Article is from May. Vinson is in San Diego, and Nimitz is in the Gulf. She did quals at the end of July until the first week of August, then went out a couple weeks ago and came back in to port the 21st.

Deployment of carriers is not "routine".

Nimitz won't stay long. She has to come through the 7th AOR to get home. She's five months into a six-seven month deployment, and it'll take at least two weeks to get home,without allowing for a visit in Hawaii and Japan.
