Having gone thru the 60's personally... psychedelics did what they are intended to do: opened the mind. And that scared the government. They sure didn't want the people to start seeing things in alternate reality.

They quickly made most illegal... so the populace would believe we live in a one-way, one sided Polaroid picture... when in fact... we don't.

Too late... millions world-wide finally understood.... and I can see the benefits of using them in treatments.

They should be.. at the very least. We've subjected patients to worse and unpredictable chemicals with unknown effects, reactions and side effects....

Define "dope".

Alcohol isn't a drug. It is an Intoxicant.

No. Alcohol is a depressant just like heroin or opiates. That's probably why people are so self-destructive when they are drunk.

It's not true.
Drugs do 2 things to a person.
1. Make that person sick
2. Make that person evil and do bad things in life.

Um this is quite an ignorant statement.

#1 Our psychedelic friends are medicine that when used properly awaken us to greater levels of conscious awareness.
#2 They have also been proven to break people of addiction.
#3 They have proven to help terminally ill people, accept their death with equanimity.
#4 They have been used throughout all of human history as a right of passage.
#5 They are an effective treatment for PTSD.

Now your statement is applicable to the host of pharmaceutical medications that are sold enmasse to the public, simply read the side effects of any pill you choose. Also alcohol and tobacco.

Maybe there is a connection between tripping on acid and messianic tendencies?

Maybe there is.

There are some who say that Jesus never existed, but may have been a mythological creation invoked through the imbibing of certain hallucinogenic substances.

The book relates the development of language to the development of myths, religions, and cultic practices in world cultures. Allegro argues, through etymology, that the roots of Christianity, and many other religions, lay in fertility cults, and that cult practices, such as ingesting visionary plants to perceive the mind of God, persisted into the early Christian era, and to some unspecified extent into the 13th century with reoccurrences in the 18th century and mid-20th century, as he interprets the fresco of the Plaincourault Chapel to be an accurate depiction of the ritual ingestion of Amanita muscaria as the Eucharist. Allegro argued that Jesus never existed as a historical figure and was a mythological creation of early Christians under the influence of psychoactive mushroom extracts such as psilocybin.

Oh yeah, MAPS got through the red tape and entered MDMA into FDA’s Phase III Clinical Trials. It’s damn near a lock that MDMA (ironically, was legal up into the 1980’s) will be available as PTSD treatment in the 2020s.

If you want a sound, clinical take on the medical efficacy of non-disassociative psychedelics/hallucinogens/enthogens, check out these guys: Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies

They carried all the water and got MDMA designated as a breakthrough therapy for PTSD.

ETA: Unfornutately, ‘pyschedelics’ didn’t work so well in dampening Whitey Bulger’s recidivism rate. Just saying.

In my studies I think these substances have the power to literally change the world, and have a profound change on the individual as well. Not only is it good for treating things like depression and anxiety as you described, but your overall perceptions and overall "mood" are better. That is the case with myself. I wish more could be discussed on this subject without breaking T&C. I honestly think its high time that rule be changed/modified, just a little.

If psychadelics cannot be discussed, then esoterics should be banned as well. Since they are both truth's that want to be hidden.

Id have to disagree , there is plenty of scientific evidence to substantiate the claim made in the op

and its about time the world started to learn we need psychedelics as a staple of our diet
it was a staple of our diets before and should be again

plus the world could do with some EGO dissolution

As a side note, Id like someone to mark my words here

that psychedelics will also help with gender dysphoria , dissolve ones ego slightly just enough for them to see what they are going to do to their body, dissolve their ego just enough for them to realise that consciousness is sexless and genderless
and dissolve it enough just for them to not actually care what others think about them and to realise that its all meaningless

Certain addictive drugs can cause that, even alcohol and tobacco .

This is about therapeutic use of specific hallucinogens , that can make people see themselves, including character defects.

I know right says the narc square who has probably never touched a drug in their life , accept nicotine, alcohol , paracetemol etc the list goes on for days

going through life without touching drugs now in the modern world is almost as hard as not having a sexual experience your entire life.

Drugs are everywhere and are not bad , I mean what is the first thing they will give you after a bad accident in the ER
drugs yeh , the same drugs that will save your life , how did we find out about these drugs , well there are organic analogues out there somewhere that were probably taken by our ancestors derived from plants in the jungle.
Humans have a huge relationship with drugs , so big in fact we probably wouldnt be here without them!

Don’t know much about the ‘treatment’ of gender dysphoria, but I certainly agree psychedelics (more specifically, what has been termed “entheogens”) can be extremely useful in dissolution of one’s ego. Hell, I’d agrue that is what makes them ‘dangerous’ — for whatever reason(s), as a space-faring species with god-like technology, we are still primally-motivated and that starts with the ego. Wrestle the ego into submission and we can certainly start solving some time immemorial problems.

I watched a documentary once about this one psychedelic drug called Ibogaine. People who were hardcore drug addicts were sent to a place to use it. It basically instantly cured their addiction... No withdrawal, no cravings to use drugs, just *poof*... No more addiction.
There are some really special substances out there. Unfortunately TPTB seem deathly afraid of us having access to them.

Yeh well its untested grounds, but Id rather they give a kid some micro dose psilocybin than have them taking hormones which stay in the body longer and cause more damage.

There is no harm to be had from micro dosing at low levels psilocybin doesnt cause massive onset hallucinations
and is actually rather pleasant. With enough micro dosing one might wrestle the ego into submission and see their true selves.
Surely this would be preferential to gender reassignment?

Of course its just an idea

but Id try it for sure

funny how psychedelics already put you in space and travel around time, without the use of any technology
