Nope.
But Eisenhower was not on a diplomatic mission and neither would be Trump.

I already said he should stay in Washington. Did you notice?

Sure! Because if lil Kim gets lucky and picks Trump off we would effectively be killing two birds with one stone! North Korea and Trump! The lefties want Trump gone and the righties want NK gone, it's a win win!

/sarc.... as if /sarc was necessary right?

No expert here, but I don't think it's a good idea. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Kimmie will see the visit as a threat and act accordingly. He may see an attempt to take out Trump as being worth the stuff that'll hit the fan after. I don't think Kim is stupid, nor truly crazy. More like he's a very canny and malicious individual. One has to be a cold-hearted bastard to kill family members to keep them from being a threat to his rule.

Is the "world's deadliest golf course" still located at Panmunjom?

Great PR and President Trump loves his golf.

Absolutely! Not only should Trump visit the DMZ, he should walk right up to the NK border and urinate across it.

As for security, Kim knows what the response would be.

The best outcome would be that Trump visits the DMZ at the same time Kim does. I can see them in a staring contest two feet apart through a barbed wire fence waiting for someone to blink both wearing their best scowled faces. At some point, Trump would bust out laughing and the two of them will part as great buddies. They'll both think they won the staring contest and peace will reign on the planet once more!

Just a fantasy, I know

Why does it mater if a US president visits the DMZ?

Symbolism?

I leave the symbolism to the symbol minded.

This would be a great idea. If he does go to the DMZ, then he could say openly that he's there and Lil'kim can come and talk in person. This could finally put the whole "not being Diplomatic" issue to rest. At the very best it can be used as an open door to NK, but at the very worst it could lead to a "Archduke Ferdinand" event.

I can see the Secret Service going insane over this.
Other than that it'd be like two Cartmans screaming at each other.

Pretty sure if NK does something insane they know they'll get stuck with Pence and the Joint Chiefs so a really bad idea.

Trump at a podium in the DMZ would be a slap to NK...a disrespectful Taunt...not something to do or even toy around with...''If He goes anyplace, the Peace/Love/Harmony-Speech should be at both Tokyo & Seoul for the publicity angle and for the Practical angle he should speak at the USAs forward Base in Guam,
(that would symbolize a different tone than either of the Tokyo-Seoul messages)

Explain? It could be a last ditch effort to show that the PotUS is trying to achieve a diplomatic solution to a global threat (oh and don't both with the whole NK is trying to defend itself after it threatened the UN)

A well given speech at the right time and place could do more then any bombs. On the other hand if PotUS goes and offers a friendly handshake to NK, and they in turn NK slaps it away, then it should be clear who is being the problem and who is offering hel

***PERSONAL NOTE***

Yes, I have a hard slant away from NK leadership, not because I view them as a threat, but rather I view them as perpetrators of "Crimes against Humanity".

Apparently the Secret Service, Military Experts, and Diplomats, won the tug of war. President Trump WILL NOT be visiting the DMZ during his tour of Asia next month. South Korea, yes. The DMZ itself...no.

Only about 1/4 acre of it.

Presidents disrupt things more than other people do.
