Miami Herald

Just before 5:30 p.m., just as protesters outside Spencer’s speech at UF’s Phillips Center were wrapping up, Gainesville police said the trio started heckling some anti-Spencer protesters with Hitler chants, Nazi salutes and threats. At one point, cops said, convicted felon Tenbrink pulled out a gun and the brothers encouraged him to use it.

He fired a single shot that missed the group, police said, then sped off in a silver Jeep. An off-duty Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the car 20 miles out of town around 9 p.m. and arrested the group. The Fears brothers are held on million dollar bonds in the Alachua County jail. Tenbrink’s is $3 million.

Shots were fired in Charlottesville too but it overshadowed for the most part by the vehicular terrorist attack that cost life and limb.

Luckily the shots missed and no one was hurt. The crime was caught on video, the suspect arrested and charged.

I think it's important to remember that while I certainly don't condone the ideology of supremacy nor the punch a nazi tactic, that it is a small handful of people on both sides that will engage in violence and an even smaller number eager and willing to kill.

I hope that soon, we can stop the vitriol that fuels these lunatics and return to civil discourse before we end up in a another civil war.

This is incredibly sad.

However, Nazis/White Supremacists are peas-in-a-pod these days ... all emboldened by Trump's election.

I wonder if our friends who have been so vigilant in complaining that Nazi's free speech is being compromised will be in to apologize.

Really horrible to see the right-wing violence spreading even further --- bullets, not pee-balloons.

Richard Spencer is not who he says he is. He claims to be "right wing" , but yet he supports all left wing policies with one exception: immigration.

Not sure why anyone would support his nonsense.

I guess he has found a niche for himself though.

Get ready for deflections galore. Antifa will be a popular word in this thread I think.

LOL ... because you say so? Provide some evidence. He's a Trump supporter, he believes that his movement's time has come with Trump in the White House ... he's an authoritarian DB that promotes nationalist extremism ... of course he's Right Wing ... that's the definition of the phrase.

No. He is alt-right. A founder of the alt-right, specifically.

George Soros is not who he says he is either. We can do this all day, your "no true Scottsman" argument is a fallacy.

About the only "left wing" thing I've ever seen Spencer support is abortion.

And he supports that because he thinks it'll cut down on the number of black and Hispanic babies being born.

Soooo leftist.

Yea, but what did the protesters do to provoke them into shooting? We all know the ultra-right would never do anything violent on their own.

Well then you haven't really looked. A simple search provided me this tweet straight from his mouth:

Richard Spencer was on the record as being very anti Brexit. Should I find more?

Decided to go ahead and provide a video of him saying it. I am sure that is just a hologram though...

*cough* "Jew Bankers" *cough*

Straight from the mouths of the Unite the Right Nazi Putsch ...

“The truth is,” Duke told a large crowd Saturday, “the American media, and the American political system, and the American Federal Reserve, is dominated by a tiny minority: the Jewish Zionist cause.” Addressing another group, Richard Spencer mocked Charlottesville’s Jewish mayor, Mike Signer. “Little Mayor Signer — ‘See-ner’ — how do you pronounce this little creep’s name?” Spencer asked. The crowd responded by chanting, “Jew, Jew, Jew.” In TV interviews, attendees were not shy about their anti-Semitism.

I think Marx got a number of things right. I think Communism is a fantastic idea when it's confined to paper. That doesn't make me a leftist.

Richard Spencer was on the record as being very anti Brexit.

And yet despite being anti-Brexit he took to Twitter to state that the "leave vote" wasn't higher because Britons weren't willing to admit their nationalism. Despite being anti-Brexit, he still advocates, and advocated, for ethnonationalism within the EU.

Should I find more?

Whatever makes ya feel good.

Marx got a lot of things right from his perspective in 1848, mostly about the application of rational thought to economic systems.

Sadly, he also got a long of things wrong, because, well humans are xenophobic primates.

Communism is an idealistic system, just as the pure free market is.

I know you know this ...

Boggles my mind that thinking that somebody from one end of the spectrum or the other "got something right" at some point means that you're automatically on that side.

Correct and incorrect. They are just part of the wonderful spectrum of all that can be socialism.

Each one is not the same but each has the same goal. The difference is the way that the goal is attained. And of course it must be attained regardless of any common sense - or human misery - that gets in its way.

PS. Parks, roads, and so on are not socialism. They are not the socialism that you yearn. If that were so, then they would be enough to satisfy. But strangely they don't - you always need more. And even when you have all you have asked for it will not be enough. There will still be some issue, some stone unturned that needs a central government to turn it. I have the benefit of studying and studying and watching this unfold over almost 40 years now. Its always the same. Just over the horizon, just a little more, just one more thing, we need just one more law...the populace succumbs (usually not willingly) and then here it comes again...just a little more, we need to fix this thing, we need more...and on and on it goes.

Yeah, that is where I was going. It's a sore argument. It really doesn't matter how much information is available for anyone to prove that to you anyway. You would not read it, and even if you did, you would cherry pick half sentences and micro phrases to hide from yourself the reality of the situation.
