Steven Greer - ‘Unacknowledged’ ,Untangled and Unbelievable!

Dr. Steven Greer is not the most popular of personalities here on ATS. There are numerous posts in the forums about his outlandish false claims, his lust for cash, uncontrolled ego and Messiah complex. However I have decided, now the hype has settled, to see how that perception fits in relation to his latest piece of work. I am talking about the movie “Unacknowledged”. Does his evidence really support his assertions?

This is going to be one long post. It will cover the evidence Greer presents in ‘Unacknowledged’ to convince the viewer there is a cosmic conspiracy involving alien beings, free energy and a secret government.

Background
For those who have never really heard of Steven Greer then you should know that he arrived on the UFO scene in the late 80s with lofty ambitions. Greer founded the ‘Center for the Study of Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence’ (CSETI) in 1990 followed by the ‘Disclosure Project’ in 1993, a supposed non-profit research project, with the intention of exposing secrets on UFOs, alien intelligences, and hi-tech propulsion held deep within the vaults of the US Government. By 1998, Greer had left his career as an Emergency Room doctor to work full time on the Disclosure Project.

The days of “Top Greer” were probably the early 2000s after the launch of the Disclosure Project and his much publicized event at the National Press Club in 2001. It certainly grabbed attention and even the mainstream media treated the hearings with some respect.

After that Greer seems to have followed the path of many high profile “UFO personalities”. A period of focus on core issues and rise in popularity and profile with the UFO community eventually leads to a brick wall that these people collide with. They reach the point where they realize there is no hard evidence for ET intervention on Earth. It becomes a turning point in their career. Like many others Greer appears to have utilised all the tricks of the trade to convince the gullible and reinforce the beliefs of those already aboard the ‘Greer Bus’. It has polarised many in the UFO community.

“Unacknowledged” – The Promotion

If you haven’t watched the full documentary it’s available on Netflix (check locally), various online streaming sites and also on DVD for those willing to shell out. There are a number of short clips in the thread to give you a flavour as well.

Unacknowledged - a First Look

First impressions are that this documentary is slick, and persuasive on the surface. It gives reason to question everything we have been told about our recent history and what is really going on in our world. Greer and his team have blended together an almighty conspiracy cocktail. It is obviously aimed at a mainstream audience who probably have only a sparse knowledge of the subject matter being presented.

The Masons, the Catholic Church, Hitler, Roswell, the Kennedy assassinations, Marilyn Monroe’s death, Werner von Braun, Prince Philip, General Douglas MacArthur, retired Presidents, the intelligence agencies, the aerospace industry, the energy industry, 9/11 and a few I’ve probably missed , are all linked into a dark secret cabal that controls the world. Only the moon landing hoax and a flat Earth conspiracy seems to have been omitted! The documentary is less than complimentary about scientists, especially Carl Sagan and Bill Nye (the Science Guy), accusing them of complicity in a cover-up of mind blowing proportions.

Somewhat annoyingly there are a number of musical interludes accompanied by underwhelming amateur footage of lights in the sky UFOs.

From Greer to Eternity


Spacious opening shots of the universe are accompanied with a narration by ‘Gus’ of ‘Breaking Bad’ fame (Giancarlo Esposito ). He reads from his script:

“It’s now estimated that for every grain of sand on Planet Earth there is another Earth like planet capable of sustaining life...So can we truly be alone.........?”.

Hmm!
We are then introduced to a snapshot of the 2001 Disclosure Hearings, sound bites from the participants, flashes of official looking documents and then Dr. Greer announces:

“There is no evidence, I wish to emphasise, that these life forms from elsewhere are hostile towards us. But there is a great deal of evidence that they are concerned with our hostility....”

Louis Armstrong’s ‘Wonderful World ‘accompanies various visuals of human injustice, evil, pollution, death and wanton destruction that plagues our planet. A particularly distressing scene is that of a dead child washed up on a beach. I really don’t think that should have been included. But that gruesome image apart I’ll let that whole opening go for now.

Act 1: An Embarrassment of Riches

We are shown an archive clip of Carl Sagan stating that the extraordinary claims of extraterrestrial visitation are not backed up with extraordinary evidence. Dr. Greer then smirks at the declaration.

Amongst screen flashes of Project Bluebook documents we are introduced to a self professed international man of mischief and deep deception, Richard C Doty. More about him later.

Next Greer starts quoting from the Guy Hottel FBI memo. This is a genuine FBI memo. View it for yourself

It looks very exciting because taken out of context you can see the following paragraph.

An investigator for the Air Forces stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico. They were described as being circular in shape with raised centres, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flying and test pilots.

There is no evidence of extra-terrestrial visitation in the memo.

Greer peers at an MJ12 memo. The MJ12 papers origins link back to Bill Moore and Jaime Shandera : More info on MJ12 Hoax. They are basically documents allegedly recording the meetings of a secret group of US military officers, politicians and scientists in regards to dealing with the 'alien' problem on planet earth. The truth is they are all almost certainly fakes and none of them have been proven genuine.

The Men Who Swear at Doty
Then we have Richard Doty, a former agent of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, trained to deceive. He is believed to have been involved in the creation of the MJ12 documents and also the SERPO story by some ufologists.


In the early 1980s Doty convinced a guy called Paul Bennewitz that secret projects at Kirtland Air Force base were really aliens. This eventually led to Bennewitz having a mental breakdown.

Doty is seen in the movie describing an egg shaped craft crashing near Roswell in 1947. Then a guy called Bill Uhouse explains how there was a problem getting it to Area 51 on a flatbed truck. Area 51 was not built until 1955 Bill!

Now it could be the way it's been edited and Bill is talking about something else completely different. But if so then the editing is deceptive because it is made to appear that Doty and Uhouse are talking about the same thing.

Before even 10 minutes are through, up pops Glenn Dennis on screen. His description of the aliens (that he never actually saw) seem to conflict with Doty (ditto). Dennis was a young mortician in 1947 based at a funeral home in Roswell (not at the Army Air Force Base). His story revolved around an officer at Roswell Army Air Force base placing an order for child sized coffins and a story of a nurse on the base Naomi Selff. The nurse allegedly told Dennis how she'd seen dead alien bodies at RAAF base. However Dennis’ story collapsed under scrutiny. Extensive Military records from 1947 still exist. Unfortunately for Dennis it was shown that the nurse never did.

The Disclosure Project Re-Cycled

Greer relies a lot on previous interviews and so it is no surprise that he recycles material. We have lots of quotes (some from a very, very long time ago) from various people. John Callahan a former FAA Division Chief relates the JAL1628 UFO case from 1986 which many have debated. A few other lesser known cases are verbally related by talking heads. Many of the golden oldie UFO cases are interesting of course but anecdotal evidence is all we get from Greer’s talking heads. No hard proof of anything is offered.

George Filer then relates his own encounter over England (dates are absent so the case is unverified in the film) when his aircraft was asked to intercept a UFO. Filer then says in a later meeting at an officer’s club he was surprised that his Royal Highness Prince Philip (who was in attendance) knew all about his case. This convinced Filer UFOs were alien spacecraft because of Prince Philip’s stature.
(Well worn trick– when the evidence is weak or inconclusive use the testimony of someone in authority to back up your case).

Just why Prince Philip would know about this UFO case while so many others are allegedly kept out of the loop is not explained by Flier or Greer.
The quotes keep coming and flashing up. An example is this one from Gordon Cooper a former Astronaut.


If an astronaut believes ET vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets I guess the implication is so should the viewer. Sadly Gordon Cooper’s opinion is not fact.

He did claim to have seen strange objects in the skies and was involved in one case when a UFO was filmed landing on the dry lake beds near Edwards Air Force base by a military camera team. Cooper was not with the film crew but does claim to have seen the footage before it was dispatched to Washington. It was never seen or heard of again. Another feature of the global UFO conspiracy is that every single piece of good evidence is rapidly whisked away leaving only dubious fuzzy photos and video. It certainly seems that way.

An Unacknowledged Buzz

Buzz Aldrin is next up. He tells us we should be visiting Phobos (a Martian moon) because there is a monolith there. Questioning “....who put that there?” Here’s the same clip used in the movie.



Is Buzz fooling us? No, he isn’t!

There really is something standing on the tiny Martian moon but we don’t know anything more about its origins. Mars Global Surveyor took shots of it from distance and it could be just a rocky outcrop as much as it may have been put there by ET.

Greer serves up another former astronaut Edgar Mitchell to tell us there have been “visitation....crashed ET craft....material and bodies recovered” and that the knowledge of such things has been concealed. If you research any of Dr. Mitchell’s comments in depth you will discover that none of his quotes come from firsthand experience. All of it comes from what others have told him.

Now talking of the moon....

Sgt. Carl Wolf (or should it be Karl Wolf) describes how he was told that a base had been found on the moon and even claims to have been shown photographs of the discovery:

“He pulled out one of these mosaics [photographs] and showed me this base, which had geometric shapes.”
“There were towers, there were spherical buildings, very tall towers and things that looked somewhat like large radar dishes but they were large structures.”

Sadly we are not shown any of the photographs. Nor any real evidence to indicate there is something on the opposite side of the moon. Aah well another one that got away!

Roswell, UFOs & Nukes

A UFO intercepting a nuclear missile under test from Vandenburg AF base in 1964 is discussed by Lt Robert Jacobs. The missile was not armed and was merely a dummy. Jacobs was assigned to the test as telescope site commander and claims that when viewing the film later it showed a UFO firing beams of light at the missile under test.

However his tale has been refuted by the project initiator and engineer Kingston A. George on numerous occasions.

........photography showed that the decoys did not deploy properly after the main propulsion phase ended and were surrounded by pieces of Styrofoam packing from their launch tubes. Thus, the “real” warhead, released before the decoys and without the packing, stuck out like a sore thumb.

The Strategic Air Command (SAC) headquarter analysts subsequently recognized this as a shortcoming of a major weapons system and classified the film as top secret. Film footage seen up to the time of this new classification was the origin of Jacobs’s fantasy, as his security level was not high enough to handle the film or talk about it after re-classification. Nor was mine, at that time, but my clearance level was increased very soon thereafter.

You can, of course, choose who to believe. But if aliens were really after nuclear weapons why bother taking this particular ‘dummy’ one out when over 2,000 nuclear weapons have been tested to date?

Moving on - Bob Salas retells the Malmstrom story of a UFO shutting down missiles.


Salas is another witness who didn’t actually see anything for himself during an alleged UFO incident. He was in a control bunker below ground. He claims UFOs were reported by guards at Malmstrom Air Force in 1967 before the nuclear missiles started shutting down one by one.

The story is disputed to this day but official conclusions were that mechanical failure rather than UFOs caused the missile faults. See: timhebert.blogspot.co.uk...

Salas still has his supporters but the documented evidence does not back him up.

And so....it’s good to see Richard Doty return and tell us that aliens were watching the nuclear detonations of WWII and arrived here to figure out what was going on. It is never explained how they detected these explosions, nor where the aliens came from.



The narrator then declares :

“..these close encounters tend to occur near to our nuclear facilities. Suggesting these visitors are deeply concerned with our hostility...”

That claim is not backed up with any statistical evidence and the UFO stories presented could all be dismissed as lacking proof of being close encounters.

Yet according to the narrative of the ‘Unacknowledged’ movie the aliens have disabled dummy nuclear missiles, while ignoring the majority of ‘real nuclear tests’. It seems that everyone, including Kim Yung-Un, has been left do as they see fit in the main.  

Crocodile Greers

Closing out the first part Dr. Greer tells us that as long ago as 1992 he was getting visits from military top brass and intelligence officers. His intention was not to be involved in ‘disclosure’ instead making contact for peaceful purposes “....to advance our society from a planetary civilisation to an interplanetary civilisation”.

We are not told who he made contact with. That is if he made contact at all.

But eventually a man who was “friends with the director of the CIA..” apparently told Greer he would be the first person to brief the said Director of the CIA.

This story has done the rounds so often that maybe Greer thinks people will believe him if he keeps repeating it. Unfortunately James Woolsey (the then CIA director) has totally refuted the claims in an open letter.



Greer sheds ....no. He acts like he is shedding tears at this moment. CGI was badly needed this point because his acting skills are somewhat limited.



Greer can’t let this go and has been so insistent he briefed Woolsey that he even tweeted on New Year’s morning 2016.

“I did the briefing for CIA director and Cliintons in 1993. They were lied to via official channels. All recent Pres. s have been deceived.”

Act II: Down the Rabbit Hole

Jumping in to Part 2 now... Greer strains his eyes, squints and removes his glasses. He blinks and tries to focus at a piece of paper.We are treated to flashing graphics of quotes from a memo from the Canadian Government without ever really seeing it in any real context.

It is the memo from November 1950 from Wilbert[aka Wilbur] Smith, a Canadian Radio Engineer for the Canadian Department of Transport.

It must be stressed that this is Smith’s individual report of meetings and discussions with others. We have an interesting document but nothing else to get our teeth into. There is, unfortunately, no outside corroboration of his statement from the US or Canadian governments. But as a historical document from 1950 my personal opinion is that there is some truth to Smith’s statements. At that time in history there was deep concern about ‘flying saucers’ in the governments of the US and its allies.

Dr. Greer is also insistent that the event at Roswell led to the formation of the CIA and separation of the Air Force from the Army. Truman had set up the CIA in 1947 to centralize the fragmented intelligence structures within the country. The US Air Force was separated from the US Army as part of the same legislation - the National Security Act 1947. The plans were introduced on March 3rd 1947 before anything crashed at Roswell (although it was not signed into law until late July 1947). But most bills take around 250+ days before they are enacted. So citing Roswell as the reason for these changes seems rather deceptive.

Greer further insists that President Eisenhower lost control of a nation. An unseen coup d’état took place in America during the early Cold War period. The Secret Government really rules America and is running’ Unacknowledged Special Access Projects’ . These are hidden from the President as he doesn’t have a need to know and are paid for by deep black budgets. Yet Ike was also the one President who it is rumoured met with the alien beings and signed a treaty with them. Link

Greer even claims that President Clinton was behind an Executive Order to release all of this information . But he wouldn’t do it when he realized it would have been too dangerous. Greer adds a hint that Clinton would receive a similar treatment to JFK if he pressed ahead with plans to release these secrets.

Marilyn Monroe’s Death, JFK & UFOs


This brings us on to another piece of paper that Greer squints at and fidgets with on camera. He claims it proves that Marilyn Monroe was murdered, before she could tell all about JFK and space aliens, calling it her ‘virtual death warrant’.



I assume it relates to ‘this memo’.

Appraisal of Contents: [Blocked Out]

1. Rothberg discussed the apparent comeback of subject with Kilgallen and the break up with the Kennedys. Rothberg told Kilgallen that she was attending Hollywood parties hosted by the "inner circle" among Hollywood's elite and was becoming the talk of the town again. Rothberg indicated in so many words, that she had secrets to tell, no doubt arising from her trists [sic] with the President and the Attorney General. One such "secret" mentions the visit by the President at a secret air base for the purpose of inspecting things from outer space. Kilgallen replied that she knew what might be the source of visit. In the mid-fifties Kilgallen learned of secret effort by US and UK governments to identify the origins of crashed spacecraft and dead bodies, from a British government official. Kilgallen believed the story may have come from the New Mexico story in the late forties. Kilgallen said that if the story is true, it would cause terrible embarrassment for Jack and his plans to have NASA put men on the moon.

2. Subject repeatedly called the Attorney General and complained about the way she was being ignored by the President and his brother.

3. Subject threatened to hold a press conference and would tell all.

4. Subject made reference to "bases" in Cuba and knew of the President's plan to kill Castro.

5. Subject made reference to her "diary of secrets" and what the newspapers would do with such disclosures.

Greer claims to have obtained this document (it’s actually been around since the 1990s) and a transcript of a phone call between journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, and Monroe.

The memo alleges that JFK had told Monroe of a trip to a secret air base to inspect “things from outer space”. However once the Kennedys began to distance themselves from Marilyn, she felt betrayed and began a plan "tell all” in a news conference. The theory being that she was killed because JFK would have been indicted for disclosing highly classified information and Marilyn became the victim of a plot to silence her.
So called Experts have been unable to confirm the authenticity of the document.

Donald R. Burleson, author of ‘UFOs and the Murder of Marilyn Monroe’, however, claims the CIA has confirmed its authenticity unwittingly. It is contrary to Agency policy to accept any Freedom of Information Act request, or appeal, based on documents which the CIA does not acknowledge to be authentic.

Burleson requested release of the wiretaps mentioned in the document. His subsequent appeal was refused. However Burleson’s claim is that the acceptance of his appeal means the CIA accepts the provenance of the document and wiretaps as they did not deny authenticity as the reason for refusal.

If Burleson is correct then we have a conspiracy of sort and circumstantial evidence that maybe, just maybe, JFK had secrets to keep and Marilyn knew some of them.

Dorothy Kilgallen’s original story links back to a UFO crash on UK soil. UK publication Flying Saucer Review, speculated that the information was given to Kilgallen by Lord Louis Mountbatten (Prince Philip’s Uncle) at a cocktail party, but attempts to verify the story and the source were unsuccessful.

If only the CIA would release transcripts of those wiretaps!

Controlling the Subject Matter

So next we enter deeper conspiracy territory. Greer informs us how the media is controlled by the intelligence community. Remember Greer believes he had to brief the Director of the CIA on this whole subject. So who pray tell us is really running the intelligence community?

Project Bluebook and the formation of the Robertson Panel in 1953 are both subjected to scrutiny. With J.Allen Hynek accused of admitting that Bluebook was there to debunk cases and not to get at the truth and inform the public. What he actually says is :

“They were told not to excite the public. Don’t rock the boat”

The clip used in the movie is the last 20 seconds or so of this one.


This of course is not evidence that alien spacecraft are visiting earth or that there is a massive global conspiracy to keep free energy sources from reaching the public. However there is some truth to there being a ‘cover-up’ of the UFO problem.

After the 1952 Washington UFO flap, although there were very few civilian witnesses to the events, the general public showed both fascination and concern at the time. The media gave great prominence to the flying saucer flap of 1952 and there was an air of nervousness in government.

Now declassified, the Robertson Panel's report recommended a campaign of dampening down public interest in the subject of ‘Flying Saucers’. The panel felt there was no direct defence threat posed by these reports as most had mundane explanations. However there were concerns over the ability of the Air Defences to cope if reports from the public got out of hand. This could then allow Soviets to penetrate allied airspace while false reports were being investigated.

Of course this policy became such a success that we still see and hear the snicker factor when UFOs are reported in the media today. After 1953 and Ed Ruppelt’s professional efforts to organise Project Bluebook it then limped along into the 1960s until it was eventually closed down. J.Allen Hynek’s reputation was permanently tarnished by his naive “Swamp Gas” statement in relation to the Michigan UFO sightings in 1966. Although by then his sceptical view on UFOs was changing.

Back to the movie now....To add beef to his ‘conspiracy stew’ Greer mentions that Project Bluebook was handed over to Professor Edward Condon at the University of Colorado intimating that Condon was really working with the CIA.

There is a document in the CIA archives which you can read for yourself. It relates to a visit by Dr. Condon to the CIA’s National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC).



The end was nigh for Bluebook around this time anyway. It had meagre resources to investigate anything and the Air Force wanted rid of it. So I am not sure the involvement of the NPIC proves a grand conspiracy. People like Richard Dolan have surmised that J. Allen Hynek was a CIA plant but again that remains unproven.

I leave everyone to make up their own minds whether “psychological warfare and spin” by the CIA ,to hide the existence of benevolent aliens from us all, was really at play here.

Act III : The Lost Century


The above video summarises the final part of Greer’s documentary. The doctor asserts that we have wasted a century by not being able to harness the free energy available to us. Black budget projects and eternal secrecy are blamed for the lack of progress and the reasons for poverty and scarcity on Earth. We are told Tesla was set on delivering us free electricity and that we already have craft that use new methods of propulsion. In fact as far back as the early 80s we are told these craft flew over Hudson Valley.

’Free energy’ is impossible according to the laws of physics. So modern global utility companies are devising ways to harness the power of nature with cleaner , cheaper fuels to power our businesses, homes and vehicles. The move away from an oil based economy is already progressing.

But then Greer tells us that cattle mutilations and human abductions are staged, hoaxed events by clandestine paramilitary group not our friendly space aliens. This, he states, is a build up to a staged alien invasion as Werner von Braun predicted would happen.

Without any evidence Greer then postulates that humanity is a threat in space. We are told we are not alone and it’s time for the powers that be to reveal it.

He wants disclosure and if someone else won’t do it he will!!
 

Conclusions

Greer pokes himself in the eye after 25 years of dodgy vision

If you want to be entertained then certainly go ahead and watch his movie. But everything claimed should be fact checked. Greer has a tendency to fabricate, or at least exaggerate, on the one hand and be economic with the truth on the other. He uses some dubious people as talking heads to support his arguments and some of the documents he reads from have questionable provenance. Not everything he says is bunk. But he has manipulated an awful lot of it and processed it to fit his agenda.

The mythology of Roswell forms a lot of the basis to Greer’s claims in this movie. Yes something happened there. But by front loading the movie with the spurious claims of Richard Doty and the false claims of Glen Dennis it doesn’t start well. Yet to the unknowing viewer this allows him to fine tune the Gospel according to Saint Greer.

If the ‘Secret Government’ threatened the lives of so many "witnesses" not to talk then how come many of those same "witnesses" have spent their lives talking about what they saw or heard on TV, radio, books and in Greer’s productions?

A ‘Secret Government’ or Deep State certainly exists to some extent in every nation on Earth. There are wealthy people in business and government who sit in the background and have spent much of their adult lives influencing Presidents, Prime Ministers and politicians who come and go after limited terms. This extends to foreign influences as well. The hidden unseen power is a real problem to every democratic nation in the world.

But Greer’s assertions that contact with benevolent alien civilizations is the biggest, best held secret on Earth doesn’t stand up. He totally fails to address 95% of the world population that isn’t American. How and why would such a secret be kept by the Chinese or Russians?

Greer has basically assembled this almighty conspiracy over 25 years of benevolent aliens, free energy and government cover-ups. But what has he really delivered in the way of proof of any of this?

This man is a damned charlatan, and I hope that whatever he most fears, is the thing that takes him slowly and painfully out of his mortal body and into whatever unpleasantness awaits his immortal soul.

He is one of the figures most responsible for the fact that REAL scientists cannot be seen to give any serious credence to the notion of visitation, or even be heard considering it in an academic environment, without losing all hope of a career. I hope the squinty toe rag vomits his lungs up and has them stamped on, quite frankly.

The main point of this post was to point out how Greer twists 'evidence' to deceive people. It's very easy for those new to all of this to get sucked in and take it all at face value. So rather than just badmouth Greer I've added links and information to point out why he's wrong and his film is mainly bollocks.

I think many of us did hold high hopes back in the early 2000s. But this has gone on for generations. People claiming to reveal the truth but never quite delivering on that promise as they continue to squeeze cash out of the gullible.

Perhaps the real UFO conspiracy here is, not that the government is holding back information on ET intelligence, but that a whole bunch of people are trying to make it look as if they are under the false banner of ufology?

My biggest problem with that is that according to a lot of people with very little to gain, apart from ridicule, they have been hoarding evidence for many years now.

I am not talking about crashed saucers or alien bodies, but about gun camera footage, radar tracks and written reports.

While claiming they didn't have an interest in it.

It might have nothing to do with extraterrestrials or aliens, but it sure is strange.

well I will say this. I read his latest book. It is interesting, and there are a lot of named names of people, allegations, witnesses and others, IF the names are accurate and if they did indeed work in very high levels of the government/military, they say they did, and if true, and they all said we know a whole lot more about ufo's than we are being told. That I too believe, but he lost me when it came to send money to support our cause. Well done by the way MM.

One more thing Buzz Aldrin never saw that object on phobos either . Neither did Mitchell ,so he probably some had this information from someone inside , just as Dr Greer got his information from inside service men?

There are some who actually witnessed some events in person as many you don't described.

It's pointless imo to review someone who's still trying to uphold ufology.

But I still remember the national press conference and that had a deep impact on me and the confirmation that what I've witnessed in person hadn't be denied by myself because others , people from high ranked places experienced those same things..

You are entirely correct. The point I made was that the Mars Global Surveyor took a photo of the object on Phobos and you, me, Buzz Aldrin and anyone else with a good internet connection can check it out online. However what we don't know is who (if anyone) put it there. It might just be rock.

Sure. This is the conundrum.

It feels like the policy of dampening enthusiasm and ridicule in the 1950s was successful and so 'UFOs' became a silly fringe topic that always produce jokey ET comments in the media. But it also seems to me that this wasn't quite enough. There is a hardcore UFO community that ignores the ridicule factor. Some of these people are rather odd but there are some serious researchers as well who have uncovered interesting snippets of information.

From the 1980s onwards everything appeared to go bat$41t crazy in the field. Before that UFO lore has hardly any abduction stories, aliens were often humanoid, Roswell was not even a footnote case and everything was nuts and bolts stuff. It may well be that the really eager ufologists had to be kept off the scent. So people like Doty and others infused the UFO mythos with a whole host of sci-fi hoax stories as a distraction. Why that might be I don't know. Possibly the MIC even paid off a stack of researchers to put out these stories?

Perhaps it was to give time to studying the phenomenon whilst the UFO community looked elsewhere? Maybe it was more to do with defence policy?

Just because I am pointing out the problems with Steven Greer's movie doesn't mean I don't think there is something going on.

Actually yes I did,if you consider me as important as al other thousands of people who also might have witnessed something unexplained and believe they saw a UFO ,and don't have status like the men in for example in your OP .

Then I should have genuine case here..
