Nothing in this song is bad, but what catches my attention the most are the strings (bass & guitar). It's been on my playlist ever since I heard it
the first time.
The 1990s, in my opinion, was probably the greatest decade for music, ever. I could post exhaustedly on this but I will limit myself at this time to a
few of my favorites.
Band: The Smashing Pumpkins Song: Tear Album: Adore Year: 1998
Lyrics excerpt: I saw you there
You were on your way
You held the rain
And for the first time
Heaven seemed insane
Cause heaven is to blame
For taking you away
Thoughts: A great song (out of several) from an underrated album.
Band: Pearl Jam Song: Animal Album: Vs. Year: 1993
Lyrics excerpt: One, two, three, four, five against one
Five, five, five against one
Said one, two, three, four, five against one
Five, five, five, five, five against one
Torture from you to me, yeah
Abducted from the street
I'd rather be
I'd rather be with
I'd rather be with an animal
Thoughts: As stated in the YouTube comments "Total destruction, from start to finish" is a good description of this song. It burns at both ends
for two minutes and forty-nine seconds.
Band: Green Day Song: Worry Rock Album: Nimrod Year: 1997
Lyrics excerpt: Another sentimental argument and bitter love.
#ed without a kiss again and dragged it through the mud.
Yelling at brick walls and punching windows made of stone.
The worry rock has turned to dust and fallen on our pride.
Thoughts: One of my all-time favorite albums in general which is better known for "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" and while that song
deserves its accolades I remember this album for songs like the following "Worry Rock" among others.
Band: Bush Song: Cold Contagious Album: Razorblade Suitcase Year: 1996
Lyrics excerpt: Wherever you are
You will carry always
Truth of the scars
And the darkness of your faith
Slowly move on
How did we get to here
It all went wrong
Gravity claiming all your tears
Thoughts: I bought this album the day before I had several wisdom teeth extracted. This song is strong enough for me to still like it despite
the fact that it reminds me of dental surgery. Need I say more?
Lyrics excerpt: Jailhouse gets empty.
Lou gets plenty.
The baton stick gets shorter
Lou gets taller
Can't fight against the youth 'cuz we're strong
Them are rude rude people
Can't fight against the youth 'cuz we're strong
And the rude rude people long, baby get now.
Thoughts: It's a great feel-good tune and it isn't one of their more well-known songs.
Band: The Flaming Lips Song: She Don't Use Jelly Album: Transmissions from the Satellite Heart Year: 1993
Lyrics excerpt: I know a girl who thinks of ghosts
She'll make ya breakfast
She'll make ya toast
But she don't use butter
And she don't use cheese
She don't use jelly
Or any of these
She uses Vaseline
Vaseline
Vaseline
Thoughts: It's fun, it's silly, it's The Flaming Lips. Subsequently, this video sums up all 90s Alternative music videos in a nutshell although
it was seven years before the end of the decade. What a fantastic, weird song.

Band: Radiohead Song: No Surprises Album: OK Computer Year: 1997
Lyrics excerpt: A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired, unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide
With no alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
Silent, silent
Thoughts: What a gorgeous song, musically and lyrically. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to this as not to become melancholy because
it can affect me emotionally somewhat easily.
Band: Rage Against the Machine Song: Bombtrack Album: Rage Against the Machine Year: 1992
Lyrics excerpt: Hey yo, it's just another bombtrack
And suckas be thinkin' that they can fade this
But I'm gonna drop it at a higher level
'Cause I'm inclined to stoop down
Hand out some beat-downs
Cold runna train on punk ho's that
Think they run the game
Thoughts: I just found out Stone Sour covered this song. Weird. Not bad, but . . . weird. Anyway, this song goes hard and the drummer in me
loves it.
Band: Korn Song: Shoots and Ladders Album: KoЯn Year: 1994
Lyrics excerpt: Nick-nack paddywack, give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home
Nick-nack paddywack, give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home
Nick-nack paddywack, give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home
Nick-nack paddywack, give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home
Nick-nack paddywack, give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home
Nick-nack paddywack, give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home
Mary had a little lamb its fleece was white as neeeuhh-neeeoh
Thoughts: "Mary lad a little lamb its fleece was white as neeeuhh-neeoh" enough said.
Band: The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Song: The Impression That I Get Album: Let's Face It Year: 1997
Lyrics excerpt: Have you ever been close to tragedy
Or been close to folks who have?
Have you ever felt a pain so powerful
So heavy you collapse? No?
Well I've never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
It makes me wonder if
I've never had to knock on wood
And I'm glad I haven't yet
Because I'm sure it isn't good
That's the impression that I get
Thoughts: Pure nostalgia. A fun song that you can play and sing the chorus to while having a few drinks with friends.
Band: Rockbitch Song: Sex And The Devil Album: Motor Driven Bimbo Year: 1999
Lyrics excerpt: Everything you need, I give to you
And when you started this
You wanted me, that's true, I knew
Sex and the Devil
Do what you want to do
Thoughts: I wish this band was still around. Motor Driven Bimbo is overall a good album. Talented, Unique, Sexy and Awesome = Rockbitch
Band: Spacehog Song: In the Meantime Album: Resident Alien Year: 1996
Lyrics excerpt: And in the end we shall achieve in time
The thing they call divine
And all the stars will shine for me
When all is well and well is all for all
Forever after
Living in the meantime wait and see
We love the all the all of you
Where lands are green and skies are blue
When all in all we're just like you
We love the all of you
Thoughts: The bass line makes this song worth a listen from that start. Catchy and could possibly get stuck in your head.
Band: Soul Asylum Song: Black Gold Album: Grave Dancers Union Year: 1992
Lyrics excerpt: Black gold in a white plight
Won't you fill up the tank, let's go for a ride
I don't care 'bout no wheelchair
I've got so much left to do with my life
Thoughts: Good band, great song.
Band: Björk Song: It's Oh So Quiet Album: Post Year: 1995
Lyrics excerpt: It's oh so quiet
Shh shh
It's oh so still
Shh shh
You're all alone
Shh shh
And so peaceful until
You fall in love
Zing boom
The sky up above
Zing boom
Is caving in
Wow bam
You've never been so nuts about a guy
You want to laugh you want to cry
You cross your heart and hope to die
'Til it's over and then
Shh shh
It's nice and quiet
Shh shh
Thoughts: Björk smacks bitches up. (and it's a good song)
Band: Dr. Dre Song: Lyrical Gangbang Album: The Chronic Year: 1992
Lyrics excerpt: Now I'ma kick up dust, as I begin to bust
On the wick-wack, #ed up suckers you can't trust
When I kick up, I lick up, your face get smacked up
When I rack up, so all you motha#as just pack up
Or get slapped with the swiftness
If you think you're swift with the gift, Merry Christmas
Thoughts: In the 90's I use to blast this at high volume in residential areas.
Remember the brief MiniDisc (mini CD) resurgence fad back then? Pepperidge Farm remembers, as do I. Talk about me being steaming pissed when that
single dropped and all I could find it on was a damned MINIDISC.
