Tom Petty, legendary rocker, is dead at 66

Tom Petty, the rocker best known as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is dead at 66, CBS News has confirmed. The legendary musician suffered a full cardiac arrest and was found unconscious and not breathing in his Malibu home Sunday night.

He was taken to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and put on life support, reports TMZ.

Just when I thought today couldn't get any sadder. This sucks...

Yeah, I know. I started a thread yesterday about Marilyn Manson. I searched all posts in the off-topic (bts) section. Turned out there was already a thread in the conspiracy (ats) section.

Such a sad day. I love Tom Petty. He was so talented. His songs are classics.

I remember when his 'American Girl' played in the Hannibal Lecter movie. I thought wow, this can't get any better.

I knew of him far before the movie came out but still - it was great to hear him.

It is hard to find people who do not like at least a few of his songs. Like many of the real all time greats, he sounded nearly the same live.

So many great and memorable songs over the years!

I am fortunate enough to own an autographed telecaster he played durring his time with The Traveling Willburys. That will be passed down to my son when my time comes.

Thoughts and prayers to his many loved ones.

I remember watching his songs on a Saturday morning, ITV Chart Show. Really great music.
