After a week and a half of agonizing and depressing silence, I have FINALLY heard word that my dad is alive and well! Last weekend I had made a thread
about how I had heard that his neighborhood was completely flooded and that I feared the worst. Well a cousin of mine who lives on another part of the
island was finally able to reach his neighborhood and get to his house. The truly amazing part of all of this, however, is that his house is totally
fine. Some minor damage as you would expect from such heavy winds, but it isn't even flooded! Most of the rest of his neighborhood was completely
trashed and flooded, I guess he is at the highest part of the town, protected from floodwaters.
I would like to thank each and every one of you that participated in my last thread, giving me kind words and keeping him in your thoughts and
prayers. You presented ideas for ways that I could possibly get into contact with him, and shared your own stories and worries about your own loved
ones on the island. I truly hope that you have heard from them and they are okay.
That thread reminded me that even though ATS may seem as politicized and divided as ever, this place is home to an unbelievably diverse and caring
population, that is able to set aside their differing opinions to come together and rally around someone who was at one of the lowest points in his
life. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You are awesome and I love you all.
Here is a picture of him that my cousin was able to get to me!
