Good movie. I give it a B+

As far as being factual......F

I was stationed in the exact same place where the movie portrayed him downloading the files he leaked.

Totally dead wrong,,,it looks nothing like what was portrayed in the movie. As a matter of fact, it is infested with all sorts of toxic chemical contamination.

He is no hero and hopefully someday he will face justice.

Why did he leak then? It obviously wasn't to get rich, so why?a reply to: RickinVa

Maybe not for those that got blamed for what they do to the people worldwide, that attack the freedom worldwide.
But if you ask people outside of Trump-Land or the anglo-american crumbling "empire", they will tell you that Snowden indeed is a hero!!!

He risked and destroyed his former easy life because he couldn´t live with knowing too much about the really dirty game that is played by circles in the former allegedly united states , to destroy freedom, peace and liberty around the world!

How can Snowden be a hero ?

He ran to Russia.

For months now all we heard is how bad they supposedly are.

I think Stone dropped clues in Snowden on PG. if u folllow the character that introduces Snowden into the kingdom where they watch people have sex. The next scene that character is Hawaii and reaches out to shake Snowden's hand and he says "they have good pizza here". The last scene that character is playing ping pong as Snowden leaves with Intel. Why would Snowden have a break down on spying on people. It's the sick depraved stuff that gave him a nervous breakdown.

Did you expect the US army to cooperate with Oliver North in making this movie, like they did in countless other pro-army movies, like Top Gun?
Ok so the scene where he is downloading the data maybe wrong, but the matter is that he did download the stuff.
Maybe Snowden used a trick he didnt want to share in the movie? Lots of possibilities.

What "toxic chemical contamination" ??

He is a great hero! Respect for Snowden. A true American hero!

Assuming you are a US army veteran, i also assume you took the same oath as Snowden?

"...support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic;

(Bolding by me.)

Maybe you should study that oath a bit harder?

Saw the movie. Had read alot pro and con for years. What a tangled mess. The movie didn't seem to have decided on a an angle-it was quite the mess. Still have no idea why, what etc Sowden did what he did. Thought the movie would give a more focused view of what really made him tick.

My conclusion-they had no idea-and Snowden may need counseling-it's like he's lost himself and his original purpose.

I've always wondered if Snowden, Assange, and Manning (and others like them) were PSYOPs working for the "deep state" or whatever you want to call it to spread misinformation

hmm

The irony that a modern whistleblower here in the USA had to seek refuge in the flagship of the former USSR.

What "toxic chemical contamination" ??

en.wikipedia.org...

TCE, Abestos, Lead, PCB's, and pesticides from the pine apple field above....when they sprayed the pine apples, it would run down the walls in some sections of the facility.

Many vets who served there now have health related issues that are now starting to show up.

It is also part of a super fund clean up site:

Like I said..the actual site looks nothing like what was portrayed in the movie...there are no body scanners or any of the other BS they portrayed.

My group I worked with had full access to the entire facility... it was nothing like the movie.

Same reason I don't watch shows like NCIS...... once you have been inside these types of facilities, they way they are portrayed on TV and movies is laughable compared to the real thing.

I liked the movie...as long as you realize it is a completely fictional account of what transpired other than the actual leak itself.

This was the SGINT OP Center on Hawaii, where u there ... and had FULL ACCESS?? i doubt that!
Kunia Regional SIGINT Operations Center
Because since you already said that Snowden is a traitor, then you come along with FULL ACCESS and informs the rest of the world "its nothing like that". That would be a violation of your own trust then ? Please stick to the truth.
No operation officer of that installation would EVER post here, unless from abroad.

I agree. Many great US-Made movies, but not all of them.
TV is the old bread and circus operation. Keep them fed, and oblivious, and they wont revolt.

The thing is not that the set was wrong here, and there. Oliver North conveyed his interpretation of the happenings, consulting Snowden himself. Its what Snowden did, Oliver portrayed.

Please tell me, if some russian kid fleed to the US with this kind of information, what a freaking #storm against Russia there would be worldwide? No ?

Why is it then that the US is "the good guy here"? They are taking a crap on your constitution! Snowden reveals it, and he is a traitor ?
Obama won the election on promising "no more spying on Americans", and when he was elected, he just doubled up the spying!
This was what Snowden told the world.

Did you watch the other documentaries, Citizen Four, and Terminal F ?

"This was the SGINT OP Center on Hawaii, where u there ... and had FULL ACCESS?? i doubt that!"

I was stationed there for 4 years as a Telecommunications Specialist...we could monitor any traffic going in and out of the station, it was a requirement for us to do our job properly. We had the highest clearances in the building with the exception of the Station Commander and a few select others. I had full access to the entire site...all rooms, and all floors. There is nothing wrong with me making that statement.... it is on my DD214.

As a matter of fact, I was the reason why we had the highest clearances...I was chosen to give a briefing to the incoming new Station commander and after I showed what we did and how we did it......we all got bumped to the highest levels. Ah the good ole days..I was never asked to do another briefing after that, lol.

Now If I were to tell you what they did do, how many floors there were, or what the mission of the site was, how many people worked at the site, etc., then I might be going a little too far.

It's not hard to figure out KRSOC was/is used for if you just do a little research. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin did a story about the site in the early 90's that pretty much let the cat out of the bag so to speak.

Monitor any traffic going in and out? lol ok. How could you then tell if just one was a rogue mail with a zip file?. They made millions of queries every second!

Or did you mean the people going in an out ? There were no metal scanner? I cant imagine the paranoid US regime without this.

Ok you were the janitor ? I say this not to provoke you, but you are leaking confidential information now...

And a "truthful" and "honest" to the American state officer would never do that... yes i doubt you still...

Educate yourself man... I was a soldier doing my duty. I worked in a Technical Control Facility.

en.wikipedia.org...

In telecommunication, a technical control facility (TCF) is a telecommunications facility, or a designated and specially configured part thereof, that (a) contains the equipment necessary for ensuring fast, reliable, and secure exchange of information, (b) typically includes distribution frames and associated panels, jacks, and switches and monitoring, test, conditioning, and orderwire equipment, and (c) allows telecommunications systems control personnel to exercise operational control of communications paths and facilities, make quality analyses of communications and communications channels, monitor operations and maintenance functions, recognize and correct deteriorating conditions, restore disrupted communications, provide requested on-call circuits, and take or direct such actions as may be required and practical to provide effective telecommunications services.

I did that while active duty and as a civilian for 17.5 years....then I switched to the FBI and stayed there until I retired.

Soldiers (all branches were represented) who worked at Kunia were known and still are called "tunnel rats". I was proud to be a tunnel rat.

I don't care of you believe me or not, but that part of the movie was nothing but pure fiction, along with the rest of the movie except the part about ole boy leaking classified information.

The information he leaked came from NSA HQ...not the KRSOC...he was working at the KRSOC when he decided to download the files. They could have been downloaded at any site I worked at with a TS/SCI clearance....we all had access to the NSA internet at many different sites.

You still dont get it ?

I could'nt care less about where you worked, or how Oliver North portraited the facility, it does'nt matter.

The aim of the movie was ? To tell the story about Edward Snowden.

Have you ever seen ANY movie, where there is not a little tat of artistic inspiration ?

What is your position on Edward leaking this government illegal activity to the world ?
You say he is a traitor? why ? He did what his oath told him. He followed his guts, and imho he was right.

What if a billionaire acquired the same sophistication, and could do the same ? What power would they have on world economics?

Hope you know that the US used this spying information on top of the EU meetings? They had all the aces beforehand.
How is this fair?
This is misusing information acquired unlawfully, and put against European countries, Russia and others.
The program is out of control as Obama put it on election runs.

I do get it...you do not. Edward Snowden is a traitor who deserves death by firing squad.

You focus on the domestic spying stuff...he took a lot more than just that and likely got people killed in the process.

I do not agree with the NSA spying on American citizens. Nobody in their right mind would.

You still dont! Really kill Snowden by a firing squad??? You should have your head examined!

Your government broke YOUR constitution which YOU and Snowden raised your right hand on (and so did the creeps in power), and they pissed you both on the back. The difference is that Snowden did'nt fall for that patriotic crap, but you did!
