What's this meant to be and where did you come across it? I'm not sure how it fits in with skunk works maybe you can start a thread saying where you came across the image and can share it with the rest of ATS. I'm assuming the odd feature in the photo is the big beam of light. Sorry I hope this reply doesn't seem rude

Light Pillar

Not very sexy.

It could be surely a rolling shutter artifact:doubtfulnews.com...

Now, if you see one of this with the naked eye, the it gets seriously interesting.

saw it and thought it was interesting.

cant argue with good proof. but at the same time we know there are particle beam weapons, not saying that this is what that picture is just a way to spark conversation going.

I've seen atmospheric light pillars with my naked eye at least a couple times. Typically it's been up in Maine or NH.

If it's what I hope, it's quite new. It might be a little soon to see it come out though. I'd love to see it sitting on the ramp. I'd k kill myself to get there if it was.

Interesting. I hadn't heard they had a demonstrator flying yet. I knew they were close, but I was hearing some time next year before it was flying.

Do you reckon it might have flown yet or just ground testing at the moment?

Well going by that it's at least flown its first flight. I doubt it has flown at any kind if speed yet though. They have to expand the envelope slowly.

Really hope some pics emerge soon then. You got any loads for Texas planned in the future?

That was in California. Right now we're heading the wrong way, but we get through the Edwards/Mojave area fairly often. Not too close to Palmdale, but close enough we see their pattern.

I might be able to get a shot of lights, but that would be it. I seriously doubt it's going to be airborne after 4-5am. It'll be down and hidden long before sunrise.

Yeah. It's also where the main Lockheed plant is located. They build the F-35 and until recently the F-16 there.

Meanwhile... at Edwards.

Hmm, guess they must’ve left the door open and maybe something showing of our bird? Either way, this is quite a convenient place, time, and placement of this ‘censor box’ 🤔 - Edwards South Base, 2017

All speculation of course... but, gee golly, sure is an interesting bit of circumstances and set of sat images.
