Charles and Camilla to marry.

Clarence House has just announced that Prince Charles is to marry Camilla Parker Bowles.

Although this might some as a surprise to some, it doens not to me. For a long time now I have believed that it is the intention to place the very popular Prince William on the throne rather than Prince Charles. This marriage will distance Charles even further from many who still remember Princess Diana with a fondness.

Umm, not to insult the brittish, or sound like a stupid American, but I gotta ask you...

Whats the deal with them? The queen and Prince and blah blah blah. Do they really have any sort of power? Why all the attention, and privilige? What do they do? Back in the day sure, but now a days? Why does it matter if its Charles or William? They dont really have any power, and arent elected, so why does it matter, or, should I say, why do you guys care so much? Neat press fodder, but not much else...

There have been many in the UK recently who have questioned the role of the royals in today's society and it is a contentious issue among the population of this island.

Okay! I won't hide my dislike for Charles. He has been having an affair with this woman, since 1970. She was even at his wedding to Princess Diana, who I believe may have been murdered at his hands! To say he is going to marry her, and that she will be Prince William and Harry's stepmother is amost pushing them aside, and not taking their feelings into account. Why I say this is, it was in the tabloids when Prince william and Harry were old enough to understand that their father was having an affair behind their mother's back, and to say that it must have been hard and difficult for them to deal with mentally , while being in the public eye is like saying let the onion burn your eyes over and over the pain will go away in time!
He I believe is not only an unfit father to the two boys by doing what he did while being next in line to be King, he has no morals.
If a man who is to be king, is to lead a country, and suggest that he knows best for the British, is a lie! He did not even know how to deal with his marriage to a woman who was nothing but kind, naive and loved him. Maybe if she had been like Camilla, she would still be alive today!

As for what power the royal family have, it's almost none existent. They live their over-indulgent, inbred lives because it's great for British tourism and that's about it ( although apparantly they still have Canada by the balls )

As for Charles and Camilla marrying, my first reaction after seeing my inbox being crammed with this crap was "Who cares?!". There are alot of sad people out there who put there foot down simply because they "loved" Diana for some bizarre royal fetish thing reason. She shook hands with a leper once and Charles didn't, so of course he's the devil.

Don't get me wrong I think he's a prat, but as far as I'm concerned he can marry anyone he wants and I don't want to have to hear about it everywhere I go...so what?

Another thing is that, and let's be honest here, you don't get much uglier than Camilla where as Diana was attractive by that standard set lol. So for Charles to cheat on Diana with Camilla and to still be with her today he obviously loves the woman as it's got to be more than attraction surely (must be a great personality), so let's just let them get on with it...it's no big deal...

Yes it's true Charles ain't exactly budding in the looks department, but the sad fact is that he's a Prince worth millions and could pretty much take his pick of any woman wanted within reason (money grabbing, high society types anyway) whereas Camilla could not. So for him to go for her shows there must be something there...

As for the royal family having Canada, I can't believe there's a Canadian who actually took the bait on that wind up, I was just taking the piss hence the tongue.

I have never seen Charles with any 'socialites', have you? I mean, I don't think after having Diana, he went on looks, he is looking for what he got,
someone who won't make more headlines in the press than him. I think that was the downfall really, besides having loved Camilla. Diana left Charles in the shadows when he felt he should be in the limelight, the headline of the day.
But, hey, once a cheat always a cheat, I wonder who will be his his next victim once he's maried, after all he can have a 'lover' he is royalty. I pity whoever it is.

From what Cnn.com, says,Charles would be the supreme governor of the Church of England if he took the throne, and some Anglicans remain opposed to the remarriage of divorcees.

His sons, what could they say to their father? I expect that William will not be happy, but, he will have to put a smile on for the cameras, click click, as they will be doing all the time until the marriage on April 8th.

I am a huge fan of Diana, and the work she did with the Aids victims, the poor and the landmines she made known to the world about well, at least to me as I had no idea about them and how they mangled those people
Camilla will not become Queen! SHe will have the title, HRH, but if Charles becomes King, she will noot be known as the Queen, but as a Duchess I believe..not sure..

edit: When Charles becomes King, Camilla will not be known as Queen Camilla but as the Princess Consort.

You know, Charles and Camilla should have just married way back when. Then a lot of tragedy would have been avoided.

I don't deny that the two may very well be very happy together, and compatible...but that doesn't take away from the fact that Diana was put through sheer hell.
