Squirming stick thing

Not sure how to imbed this from DailyMail, but please have a look... its an odd one! What looks like a hair net wiggles around and lashes out tentacle into the air and steals souls.

That's one of those parasites that takes over insects. I'm surprised to see it alive outside of a host.

I think it's a snake or worm of some sort, tangled up in something.

If you look closely, you can clearly see it's entire body - and it doesn't seem to be connected to the tangle.

Looks like a stick insect caught up in a hairnet.

its a horsehair worm. They are known for living inside of the praying mantis.

Ive been on the Google and Ive seen nothing like it as far as stick insects, but the parasite seems to be close.

The tangle is all stiff, possibly not attached.

No back story on whether it still lives or not.

Hopefully it was kicked into a nearby sewer, left to self replicate in peace.

I saw the video somewhere else and it appears to be not one, but multiple horsehair worms. I read a couple comments claiming that it was horsehair worms mating. I have no idea. I couldn't readily track down any information about horsehair worm mating (not even on horsehairpornwormhub.com).

And yes, horsehair worms are straight out of a nightmare. Also, they don't infect just insects but a variety of arthropods, including crustaceans.
