The Mayor of Seattle has abruptly resigned.

He has been targeted by accusations of sexual abuse going back years.

He claims innocence, and says the scandals will interfere with his duties as Mayor.


Seattle Mayor Ed Murray resigns after fifth child sex-abuse allegation

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray resigned Tuesday, just hours after new allegations that he sexually abused a younger cousin decades ago in New York.

Murray, a former Democratic state legislator elected mayor in 2013, said in a statement that he is resigning effective 5 p.m. Wednesday.

“While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our City government to conduct the public’s business,” Murray said in a statement.

If you're not than no, homosexuals are not predominantly pedophiles and pedophiles are not predominantly homosexual.

Way overdue for that, should have happened with the first allegation, he was about to call it quits(but not soon enough) anyway after pressure from the other ones.

Exactly, but people will always comment about it, never research.

In this information age, people want information (and almost everything else) given to them. Happens in every thread...supposition without support, opinion and belief trump facts... knee jerk legislation which solves no problems but makes everyone "feel good."

So what about the higher ups like senates and pres himself...

He's gay and very outspoken about lgbtq etc. issues.

When I first heard the allegations I thought, hmm... could be true, but might also be political assassination. But, now that a RELATIVE has come out, it is hard to believe that these are all people intentionally lying to hurt the soon-to-be-ex mayor's career.

The practice of the elite which the OP highlights is not a partisan issue.

You must have ignored the mountains of examples of Republicans being arrested for the exact same thing. The other forum that allows full discussion of this issue has turned into a partisan cess-pool just like ATS has recently, so I am not surprised people try to add political spin to even these stories.

I have been following this guy's story for a while, the evidence against him is very incriminating and was virtually swept under the rug several times. The first victim under his foster care many years ago was deemed by specialists to have been assaulted.
