sounds like canada is starting to catch up with the U.S.. in my neighbor hood which is a big neighbor hood land area wise, talking like about like a
five mile square area. is and has been fast filling up with people when there was nothing but woods and farm land for 48 plus years that's how long my
family has lived in the area. before that old timers say it was mostly pig trails. with a couple of big a@@ farms. it's next to the interstate and
they say it went to hell when they built the interstate through here. we have four convenience/ gas stores inside this area. two are corporate owned,
two are independent branded stores. three of them are within 1/4 mile of the interstate entrance/ exit.
of these stores. two were bought by people from i'm gonna say from india, one i know for sure they are, the other it's hard to tell because they don't
talk that much and when they do it's broken english, i sometimes wonder if that is just a put on to avoid having to deal with customers. this one
right from the get go, started going sky high with gas prices. i'm talking the are any where from .20 cents to .50 cents more i gallon then the
others, quit going into that one long time ago so i can't tell you what prices are like on other stuff. never went to the corparte stores that much
but everyone knows them and what kind of prices they have.
of these four one was a little mom and pop type place but they carried everything and were priced fairly reasonable, and is one within 1/4 mile of the
interstate. most of the people in the area went to this store. but they got old and the kids and grand kids had no interest in taking over sold they
sold it, and the first people that bought it were from india. they didn't manage to stay open long, before the state shut them down for almost a year
for rigged pumps and failure to pay sales taxes is my understanding.
the store reopened, but this time the way i understand it the first new owners sold it to other family members, some say that is just a tax scheme and
legal deal to keep it in the family, i can't say.
started to going back to the store, the new owners were real nice and ran things pretty good at first. but as time went on i started noticing that
they were putting in absolutely worthless useless sh@@, and the store started looking like the market streets you see on tv, you know where all the
vendors are hockin useless junk and boxes and boxes of little the candy you see in candy bowls at some offices, next to the regiaster. as time went
on they have started going up on prices, before i quit going there, they averaged about 15 cents to a buck higher on items that i bought than all the
other stores.
but what really put a stop to my patronage, was one day i was at the cash register, and they new owner said here i don't have the correct silver in
change, take some of this candy to make up for the difference. he told me that in india that's the way they do it if they don't have the correct
change, it had value so if they are say a dime short, they give you a dimes worth of candy.
now you know it's no big deal but what if they are a dime, nickel, three, four cent short all the time? i now go to the Tom Thumb, they suck but at
least they are honest on how they rip you off.
