A Failed Ambassador AAM2017 non writer

Once upon a time an alien civilisation
Received some news, with great anticipation
They found a new planet in a far away galaxy
Intelligent life on it, this was true not malarkey

The leaders were constantly discussing what to do
Arguing each other will there be friend or foe?
Should we just study them and stay out of sight
Or send an ambassador that might risk a fight

In the end, like in all stories a decision was born
They needed someone, if lost nobody would mourn
They found the perfect specimen, right away sent him to school
And sometimes later, he was trained on every tool

Sent him on his way after a huge celebration
His GPS programmed Earth as final destination
I can see the planet now, he radioed home, excited
But didn't count on magnetic fields and thats where trouble started

The pulse engine went offline the accident was imminent
I cant believe I'm going down, he thought, I'm always so diligent
For his kind, crashing the ship was a massive blow
It was 1947 near Roswell New Mexico
