Check out this weather tracking page www.ventusky.com.../03

Inside of 5 days, this tracker is supposed to be very accurate. Beyond 5 days, its kind of a toss up, but if this hurricane does anything like what this model says after the 5 day mark, this would be quite the coincidence.

When you go on the website, make sure you are tracking "wind speeds" from about 10 meters to 1500 meters in altitude. Click on the date on the bottom left to expand a calendar to choose dates.

Been hearing about what is now Irma for a few days. Wind speeds really kicked in.
I hope the models that have it pushed back out into the Atlantic are right. I live in that neat little Amish filled armpit of PA by the borders of DE and MD.
Haven't really ever experienced a hurricane. Being from the Plains, I'm used to tornados ripping things up for a day and done.

A category 5 hitting New York would not be good for the country.

I'm in NJ. I'm already getting ready, Irma looks like Sandy for some reason.

I live in NYC, and have no control of the weather unfortunately. Have supply's, armed, and know it's probably not going to hit here. If it does I've been through it before. We'll still have murders and mayhem like ever other day.

am I a bad person for hoping that it takes aim at DC?

If you are, then so am I. A major hurricane collapsing the Capitol Building and White House would, somehow, be deeply satisfying to me.

Dear Lord I hope not. We don't need anything like that at all right now - or ever for that matter.

I sure hope this is just doom porn. Not saying that's your intent of making the thread - just saying respectfully I hope this is wrong.

peace

Of course I hope this veers back off into the Atlantic, but it will run into a high pressure system and probably be tracked right into the east coast, if the high pressure system is really strong, it could steer it right into the gulf, probably unlikely. I am just pointing out a probable situation, and pointing at NYC specifically because of the obvious, and kind of creepy coincidence regarding the date it would make landfall.

lol... it seems that everyone always seems to kind of want to hope that the hurricane plows into NYC....
what has it ever done to deserve such bad intentions from everyone??
where as DC seems to be currently disliked for one reason or another by just about everyone.

It's not cat 5 as of now, I'm making speculation based off computer models, 10 days out. Last night models showed it at 175 mph sustained wind speed, gusts probably much higher. Today, it is now shown at 145 mph on Monday the 11th.

Edit: Was wrong, not showing 145, showing 178, model hasn't changed

Like I said to silo, I do not hope it hits NY, I hope it veers off back into the Atlantic, I am just pointing out one of the obviously probable situations at hand, that would make for quite a coincidence regarding the date of landfall. I like NY

Still too far away to be accurate but it needs to be watched... ran across a thread 7 to 8 days before Harvey hit, saying exactly what happened was possible. Got a lot of doom porn comments but occasionally these models are right. The European models have it tracking more southerly if it hits the US at all, from literally Cape Cod to the Keys and even a possibility of it getting in the Gulf of Mexico. Regardless US doesn't need to hit anywhere, needs to veer off north and peter out in the North Atlantic.

That would be pretty accurate, let's see in 1959 they were expending a lot of resources already in Russia.
